Exhausted! - Page 2

I really think it is the hormonal shift- that is when I start feeling more like my pre-preggo self, and by 5-6 months pp I feel normal again- my hormones are totally leveled out.

On a side note though- I had PPD with my first two, especially my dd. This time I haven't- just moodyness. The only major different thing I have done is a dietary supplement called red maca root. It is an adaptogen that levels out your hormones. I use about a teaspoon a day, and I feel so much better this time around. I have found raw, maca powder at Whole Foods, and all over online. I buy mine from www.sunfood.com because I get several other things from there as well, and everything is top quality (especially the noni powder-awesome).

I am also hypothyriod, so I thought the exhaustion would be even worse, but so far, so good.

I've taken maca before with good results. Did you take it during pregnancy as well? I can't remember if it was recommended that I stop or if I was just on so many other things (prenatals, fish oil, D3, etc) that I gave up.
Good thinking with the maca. SAMe has helped a lot with my energy too, but it is leading to some sleep disturbances so it's kind of tricky on that end.

I did use it during pregnancy as well- maybe that's why he stayed in so long I put it in my homemade chocolate milk mix- cocoa powder (raw), raw maca, red salt, and honey...Mmmm...

Here I am, awake at 3:30 AM with a wide-awake baby who was happy and grinning and cooing, but definitely not going back to sleep. So, yeah...this is probably the source of my exhaustion, even on the nights where she does go back to sleep. She's definitely waking up more solidly in the middle of the night rather than just rooting to eat (well, she's doing that too, but apparently needing more of a boost in the middle of the night than bare nursing can do...my DPD can't get here soon enough...)

Oh boy... no fun! This baby rarely wakes up all the way in the night, but does need a lot of "hand holding" to settle all the way back down, especially after 6am (we usually stay in bed till 9 or so - lazy, I know, but it works!).
Maybe Cecilia's starting that 4 month sleep regression? Supposedly it only lasts about a week. I'm terrified of it (can sleep really get WORSE?! I know it can but ugh), hopefully yours will pass quickly!

You should get your thyroid checked. Something like 5% (huge!) of women get thyroid issues post-partum. I was diagnosed 3mo pp.

Or could you be pregnant??? :-)

No, that would be impossible.

But I will ask for a thyroid examination.
