Baby measuring 1 month larger than estimated due date

I am hoping someone can put my mind at ease. I just had what I thought was my 26th week sono. The sono doc said I am measuring a month later (in otherwords I am measuring at 30 weeks) he asked if I could have gotten the due date wrong. He said the baby is bigger everywhere so no worries. He is measuring at 30 weeks along. I kept good records of when my periods started and my last one appeared to start on Jan 15, 2010, which would put me due on Oct 22, 2010. They have now moved my due date up to Sept 24th. My belly measures 30 cm today, but a check from my midwife 3 weeks ago showed me to measure 21 cm, now to me that is a huge difference in just 3 weeks and I don't feel like I've gotten that much bigger, in fact I've only gained 1/2 a pound since my last checkup, but my belly is definetly bigger. All that said, I do feel a lot bigger than I did at 26 weeks with my last two babies and I don't have big babies. I always measure smaller. My DS was 7.10 and my DD was 6.3. I was thinking I could be further along than I thought, or I am having a big baby. I kept saying to my family it seems like I am bigger than I was with the other two and they all agree, but how can your period lie? Other things to consider, my periods were shorter cycles 26 days, 23 days, 25 days from
the 1st day of my last periods for the 3 months before I knew I was pregnant. I also bled with my daughter during the first month, but I knew I was pregnant already so I went in and found out I was low on progesterone and they gave me some pills and the bleeding stopped in about a week (almost like a period) I wonder if it is possible that the same thing happened with this little guy and I just didn't know it and was thinking I had a period when I really was already pregnant? I am not overly concerned it is just aggervating to not know now, especially having it be a full month difference!!!! Both my babies came earlier too. One was two weeks early and the other was 3 weeks early. That could put me having this one as early as Sept 1st. YIKES!!!! I'm not ready!!!!! I know they come when they come, but it is just kinda nice to have that estimate. For some reason I've already been concerned about a preterm birth (have no idea why!!!) It is silly I know!!!! Has this ever happened to anyone else out there. Can you tell me your experiences?

its normal for a 20+ week ultrasound to be up to 2 weeks off but an entire month is not likely... however, I do know of MANY women who had what they thought was a normal period but ending up finding out later on that they were pregnant a whole month before they thought they were!

A good example being a friend of mine (who is coming over tomorrow! *ahem* anyway...) who went in for what they thought was her 12 week ultrasound at 13 weeks.... and left knowing she was having her third boy and was actually about 17 weeks along!

She bled that first month enough to believe totally that it was her period and never question it. And she isnt the only one... it happens all the time! There are women even who are actively trying to conceive who get the BFP before AF is due... go on to have what they think is a chemical pregnancy (aka getting their period) only to find out baby is just fine in there.

I guess I am at least considering that they are proubably right, just because of my size and the fact that I am bigger than with the last two babies already. I can't imagine measureing at 30 cm and only being 26 weeks along. Plus I did bleed like that with my daughter and stayed pregnant, so I know it is possible to bleed and still be pregnant. It's not a bad thing to be due earlier, I just need to get busy getting ready. They did say that the U/S could be two weeks off either way, so maybe I should just go with a two week adjustment, ha ha.
