Is the progesterone supplement making me more sick?

Hello wise ladies! Seems like I have a new question every day for this forum!

I started on vaginal progesterone suppositories a week ago. No noticeable increase in pregnancy-related symptoms until 2 days ago. Wednesday night, when I was 6w5d, I started feeling nausea unless I was laying down. Woke up with it yesterday and it continued throughout the day unless I ate something with protein every hour or so. It's worse in the evening so I spend from about 6 PM on in bed laying down. Is this from the progesterone or just a normal part of pregnancy? I'm 7 weeks today.

I've never been on progesterone but my worst pregancy symtpoms are always from week 7 to week 9, when I feel like death... they tend to come on fast...feel good one day, wake up the next feeling like crud.

I haven't been on progesterone either, but my symptoms didn't really kick in until about 6.5 weeks and then the all day sickness kicked in and I felt like I was dying :P
I'm a bit past 8 weeks now and already feeling better (which is very surprising!). Last time around it was from about week 7 - week 11 that I felt awful.

Pregnancy Tea was recomended to me by my chiropractor, because apparently one of the reasons pregnancy makes women feel ill is because of the wildly fluctuating hormones and the tea is supposed to help calm things down and regulate them.

There is no way to tell if it is true for you, but progesterone definitely can exacerbate pregnancy symptoms. Your doctor should have told you that. I was on crinone gel the first trimester and had more nausea than my last pregnancy but not more than my first.

I didn't really have any significant morning sickness at all so it's hard to judge, but I definitely noticed that it made me significantly more tired (actually, exhausted). One day, I was doing 7 mile walks and the next day I barely made it 2 miles and then I had to nap the rest of the afternoon. I never got tested, the doc just put me on it (in case I needed it) so I really resented having to take it. Eventually it stabilized and I recovered a fair amount of energy. I recently quit when I started 13 weeks and I'm back to my normal energy level again.

I guess it all depends on why you are taking the progesterone. I have a deficiency so its either take it or lose the baby. I figure since the supplement is bring me up to a level that every other pregnant woman would be at then my symptoms are just normal pregnancy symptoms. Have you recently had your progesterone checked? If your levels are high then maybe you don't need to take it anymore.

Just wanted to add a warning to be careful how you come off the progestrone, especially if you do so before 10-11 weeks which is when the placenta takes over. I'd suggest getting your levels checked and if ok then you can wean yourself down. Popping off to quickly can (occasionally) cause miscarriage if the levels are abruptly change.

I had my levels checked when I was 5w5d and it was 10.9. So I've thought about having my dr check it again but won't it be artificially high because of the supplement? My next appt is when I am 9w5d.

Yes, it likely is. I was on them until 14 weeks (tapering off the last couple of weeks) and I definitely had more intestinal sluggishness and fatigue and just general ickyness this time than I did with my first pregnancy (no prog supp).

I second the recommendation to come off gradually. I stayed on longer than recommended and weaned off on an every other day schedule because I felt crampy when I tried to go cold turkey.

However, you are right at the point when you would be feeling at your sickest, anyway.

It can make symptoms more pronounced, but you're also right at the point where symptoms often show up for the first time.

So it could be either, or, or both.
