Depends on the day. The other day we had livestock emergencies due to the extreme heat (109 and very humid), so not much cooking. Thankfully I scored a home made frozen lasagne from the back of the freezer, lol. I had made zucchini pancakes for a snack since we were so busy.
Most days, though, I'd say I spend 2-3 hrs. I do not do dishes, but I clean up well when I cook (I'm a clean as you cook kinda gal).
Does butchering/meat processing work count? I do the processing in my kitchen (we raise most of our own meat). If so, then there are times when I spend 2 whole days in the kitchen, minus time to sleep.
Then there is canning and gardening. Obviously that's seasonal, but when we do canning we do it big. I also freeze and dehydrate alot of produce.
My kids eat constantly. They are tall and growing like crazy, w/my 11 yo dd wearing a size 10 women's shoe! Then when the kids next door (all 4 of them) come over, they all want a snack, too, lol.
I do not cook breakfasts, unless it's something I can do the night before. Like baked oatmeal, or cooking some bacon and biscuits, and the 2 middle ones can cook their own eggs and grate some cheese to put on the biscuit. I might make a batch of muffins or quiche cups at night, too. I keep boiled eggs and pickled quail eggs in the fridge at all times, too.
Almost all suppers are from scratch. I get my 11 yo to do some prep work a couple of nights a week, and if her 21 yo sis is home from work, she helps too. The oldest has one night a week to prepare supper. My 11 yo is about to get a night, too. I've been thinking of having the 11 and the 9 yo do a night together, actually.
When we are running low on grab and go type of snacks (fruits, crackers, string cheese, yogurt, etc.) I spend more time making snacks to pull us thru 'til next grocery shopping day (I try not to just get other stuff and just use what we have even if it's more work for me). Lately I've been making yogurt and using up frozen berries on it.
