Refilling Ink Cartridges

Thread Starter
I just refilled my HP ink cartridges using a kit I bought online. Printer is printing wonderfully. I'd heard that picture quality is poor when printing with refilled ink, but the test page has a photo, and it looked great to me!

The cartridges cost us about $15, and I got a kit for $13 that will refill it probably 20 times!!

Here's my problem: The printer still has an error message indicating that it's out of ink, which pops up about 10 times a day. When I go into help, it says that I can use refilled ink cartridges, but that the printer/computer won't be able to accurately measure the ink. It does not help me figure out to get rid of these error messages.

Any ideas?

I have been refilling mine for years and years. I had a printer in the past that would give me that message. After taking it out and putting it back in several times, it went away. The printer I have now doesn't do that.

Even though your kit may refill 20 times, that doesn't mean that your cartridges will be good for that many refills. Most cartridges have a limited number of times they can be refilled. Mine is around 8. You'll know when it just doesn't look right (printed pic) after you refill it. It will progressively get worse until you cannot print anything. Let's just say I've been experimenting, lol, instead of too lazy to get new ones...

I like that I can just refill what needs to be refilled, instead of just replacing the color cartridge if the blue is out.

That's an awesome idea. I've gotten bargain ink on-line and it never feels like it does a good quality printing job. This is great to know about.
