Hi and a Question

Thread Starter
Hello. I am currently 37 weeks pregnant. My husband and I have an amazing 5 year old son, and we're expecting son #2 the first week or so of August.

The question: constipation...I have been my whole pregnancy. Tried everything...with my last pregnancy I was 2 weeks "overdue" and my midwife suggested a Fleet enema for constipation.

Is it safe to do a saline enema now?

Yes, I will call my midwife as well...

Thanks so much, and I look forward to reading these forums.

I don't know about the enema, good idea to call your MW

I am going to move this to Health and Healing. You will get more responses to this question in there.

Epsom salt baths - with LOTS of epsom salts.

Liquid calcium-magnesium supplement.

Magnesium (supplied by both epsom salt and the supplement) draws water to the bowels, making things softer and easier to move.

You may have already tried these two things, seeing that you're asking about the enema specifically. I don't know the answer to that question.

Hello and welcome to MDC!

Have you "covered the basics" - fluids, fiber, exercise?

If your midwife said it was okay when you were 2 weeks overdue, I can't see it being an issue now that you're only 37 weeks.
I would ask the MW or you can try a medical site?
