U/s @ 6 wk 3 days no HB

I had an u/s today and there was no detectable heartbeart. Gestational sac is measuring for 6 wk 3 days, which is a couple of days off from what I had thought, but still very close. There was a nicely formed yolk. No pole could be seen, but the u/s tech said that is very common. I was able to see the hb at this point in my former pregnancies, so I am very concerned. Is there a good chance that this pregnancy is still developing? I'm really upset ... have to go back in two weeks for a "viability scan", and the wait is going to make me crazy!!

the heartbeat only starts being detectable sometime around then, so lack of a heartbeat does not automatically mean baby is not viable. Many women see no heartbeat at that point and go on to have healthy babies... keep your chin up!

I wouldn't be too worried just yet. 6w3d is still VERY early and the fact that the yolk sac is measuring well for dates is a great sign. With two of my miscarriages I had early u/s at 6.5 weeks. Neither showed a heartbeat, but the sacs were not measuring correctly at all (5-7 days off, I think). However, waiting two weeks would drive me nuts; I would insist on going back in 1 week. You should have much clearer answers by then.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this anxiety. It sucks! But again, I think there's a huge chance things are just fine.
