Pain during/after sex @ 24 weeks (TMI alert)

Hi Mamas, I am a little concerned because almost every time DH and I have DTD this pregnancy it has been painful. Not excruciating, more uncomfortalbe. But afterwards the girl parts feel almost like they are burning for awhile. Example, we DTD last night and they still hurt this morning! Also I get the feeling like I need to pee for forever after DTD. We use lube (and have tried without it to see if I was reacting to the lube) and it doesn't seem to help.

Also, I had (what I thought was) a yeast infection in May and treated it with an OTC Monistat type treatment. Don't know if that is relavent.... Oh, and 2 weeks ago I had some spotting after DTD that lasted for about 20 hours or so (very light spotting, no cramping).

I am sort of in between midwives right now and I don't want to go in for an appointment if this is something totally normal during pregnancy. Thanks Mamas!

Have you had an u/s to rule out placenta previa?

Otherwise, it could just be sensitivity due to pregnancy hormones and swelling. My guess is on an infection, though. Monistat may make the symptoms go away, but you could have a minor one. That's how I feel at the beginning of a yeast infection or after using anything with spermicides. Is your lube sugar free? Double check the ingredients, a lot have some in it! And just if it doesn't hurt that time without it doesn't mean you might not still be irritated from using lube or having an infection.

I had an US at 20 weeks and the placenta was in the right place....

I will check the lube ingredients, thanks!

I would make an appt and rule out yeast and bacterial vaginal infections. Untreated infections can lead to premature labor and premature rupture of the membranes. I'd get it checked just to be sure.

I would use an all natural lubricant, olive oil and coconut oil are my favorites, literally raid the kitchen. Try using some zinc oxide to protect your vulva, some women become more sensitive due to the hormones of prengancy and all of the increased discharge and semial fluids can be irritating. The zinc oxide sort of seals off the skin and keep the fluids away.

Good luck, things like this can be so frustrating!

I would get checked out for possibly a UTI or bacterial infection. It doesn't sound like anything really bad, but getting it fixed would make your life happier, and UTI's can sometimes contribute to pre-term labor.

The spotting I wouldn't really worry about as long as it was light-colored and no cramping.

It could be a yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, a UTI, or any number of STI's if that's a possibility. It could also just be extra sensitivity from the pregnancy. I had one day of similar symptoms a few days ago but it before I could asses the situation it was gone and back to normal. I'd say if this lasts a couple of days getting it checked is the best way to go. Good luck.

Thanks mamas, I have an apt Wednesday morning and I will get it checked out then. The more I am reading I think it is a bacterial infection.
