S/O from all the pertussis threads

I don't know if this belongs here--mods please move if in wrong place.

The latest post on pertussis advertisements and big pharma trying to make money off it has me thinking this:
FOLLOW THE MONEY

But not in the usual way. Most patients/consumers aren't bearing the largest part of the cost of the vaccine; their insurance companies are. If we could get insurance companies to see that the vaccine is a stupid idea because it's not proven to prevent transmission--think of that. What if they stopped covering pertussis boosters for adults and adolescents, because there's no medical necessity for it. Hah. A lot fewer people would get it if the insurance companies won't pay up!

A good idea if it would work. More likely, the insurance company would be blasted for daring to question vaccination, and it would be a political nightmare for the company. I would also bet money that one or more poorly designed, highly biased studies would be quickly pushed through with conclusions that adult pertussis boosters do decrease the incidence of infant pertussis.
