The latest post on pertussis advertisements and big pharma trying to make money off it has me thinking this:
FOLLOW THE MONEY
But not in the usual way. Most patients/consumers aren't bearing the largest part of the cost of the vaccine; their insurance companies are. If we could get insurance companies to see that the vaccine is a stupid idea because it's not proven to prevent transmission--think of that. What if they stopped covering pertussis boosters for adults and adolescents, because there's no medical necessity for it. Hah. A lot fewer people would get it if the insurance companies won't pay up!
