Does this sound like the beginnings of a peanut allergy?

I'm nervous about this. I ate peanut butter while I was pregnant, not tons, but here and there. I have also had it since my DD has been born, when she was a few months old I went through a stage where I ate it quite a bit for maybe a month. She's never reacted to anything through my milk until about a month ago, she started getting random hives. First it was one on her arm. then the next day that one was gone and she had one on her leg. They didn't seem to itch, they were just raised welts. she acted like she didn't notice them. THis went on for a couple of days, she never had more than 3 or 4 at once. none on her face, just her arms, legs, and buttocks. Just a couple at a time. Finally I thought maybe it was the peanut butter filled pretzels I had been eating. Stopped eating them and after a day or so no more hives. Neither me or DH has any food allergies, nor does our 3 year old DS. Apparently, DH's brother was allergic to peanuts and eggs as a child, but he outgrew this according to MIL.
Does this mean there is a chance she could be peanut-allergic? This to me is the scariest food allergy. I don't know if I should try to eat PB again and see if it happens again, I'm scared because I read subsequent reactions can be more severe. She ONLY had the few random scattered hives, no other symptoms. She's 9 months old.

ETA: She started solids at 7 months. She's only had avocado, banana, pear, peach, cheese, peas. Never had a reaction to any of that. She also tried egg yolk, which made her vomit after the 3rd time. So she hasn't had that again. She has only ever had breast milk aside from those solids mentioned, no formula ever. She's never been vaxed.

I am sorry that you are having to face this with your DD. My DD has multiple food allergies. Like you, we did not have a history of food allergies but did have environmental allergies in both myself and DH. I do have a cousin with a DS with food allergies.

Our experiences with DD when she was young was random hives and slight eczema. She did not appear to react to bm. But if my DH at nuts then gave her a kiss, she would get a hive. I used some lotion with milk protein in it that gave her hives. So like you we had our suspicions prior to her eating many solids. We figured out her egg and dairy allergies early. The peanut and nut were later.

If I had the wisdom I have gained through time, I would have kept a food journal to document the relationship of hives or other symptoms to food (like fussiness or eczema). It is scary to have to face food allergies but if they are present you just can't ignore.

Yes to peanuts and the egg reaction too. I would review these things with your Ped.

We don't have food allergies in our family hx either ... but since there is such a huge explosion in the population now, genetics are not the only cause.
