I have had a copper IUD for about 2 yrs, since shortly after DD was born. My period returned just about 3 or 4 months ago. The first few were normal. Last cycle I had a day of spotting right around ovulation. This cycle I had 4 or 5 days of spotting in the days before ovulation and spotting again after sex. I know spotting, especially around ovulation, can be normal with an IUD but given that the IUD is as old as it is and that I didn't have spotting initially I"m wondering if I should be concerned. Anyone with personal or professional experience that wants to comment? FWIW I called my OB/GYN during the spotting with ovulation and didn't get a return call for a week and by then it had stopped so I was past my concern and didnt' call them back. But now it has started again so I will call back Monday - just curious what to be preparing myself for.
