Elimination Diet?

I have NO idea if this is in the right place... so if it isn't I apologize ahead of time

I think my 1 year old may have a food related rash, mostly in his diaper area but it pops up on his neck and midsection too. I have NO idea what causes it and appears to just pop up willy nilly whenever it feels like it. The bit on his butt makes him quite uncomfortable and someone mentioned doing an elimination diet (I think?) to try and figure out the cause but I have NO clue where to start or what to do and was hoping for some words of wisdom... She also mentioned there are some pretty common allergens to try eliminating first but I don't know what those are either...

I think gluten, dairy, soy and corn are pretty common allergies.

It's a good idea to check with your doctor first. A simple blood test can show whether it's a gluten allergy. Some food allergies cause rashes in specific places which your dr should know about.

It can be difficult to find using an elimination diet because it may be a combination of allergies and also because of his age.

I will call his Dr for an appointment on Monday, but frankly.. we see family practice at the hospital on base and they are a bunch of morons. We really have no other options (middle of nowhere Louisiana) and the Drs off post are worse. I will call though and ask about the blood test and such. Is there anything you would recommend in the mean time?

If you're going to have the gluten blood test you need to continue giving him foods containing gluten, otherwise it could give a false result.

Soy may be the easiest food to eliminate first if you want to try an elimination diet. For adults, you eliminate the main allergens all at once and then gradually reintroduce one type of food at a time. But I don't think this would be wise with such a young child.

Ok, I will keep giving him gluten and call his Dr on Monday... I have noticed it get worse in the past month (as he has been eating a lot more summer fruits, like berries) so we cut those out for now... Do I just tell his Dr. I want the gluten allergy blood test or is it called something else?
