I had posted another thread, but the Target $1 spot has some great school materials right now, including desktop pocket charts, flash cards, workbooks and SO much more. Many items are $1, but there are a good bit that are $2.50, which is still a GREAT price

Your thread inspired mine. I got one of those desk charts today-- so cute!-- and an apple timer.

I was at Walmart tonight and found: Crayola crayons for 30 cents or the other brand (forget what is called right now) for 20 cents! 10 pk of BIC pens for $1, composition notebooks for 25 cents, gluesticks - 6pk/$1, 3 prong folders with front and back pockets - 15 cents!

I love buying "school" supplies! The only problem I have is keeping DD out of them until we are ready to use them - she thinks she should use everything right now!

Oh, I've been waiting for the walmart cheap stuff. I could have kicked myself in the tush last year because I waited too long and then the crayons were back to over a dollar.

I think I've seen the comp books a bit cheaper though last year. I wonder if I should snag them now or wait until they're 15 cents?

I bought some glue and notebooks at walmart on sale. REALLY wish I had a Target here! Anyone know how long their sale lasts? I might be able to drive to one next weekend if we get paid enough.

i might be wrong, but i think the 1$ section is out all the time... so the school supplies would likely be there until school starts or they run out of stock. i wish we had a walmart around here, we need glue and notebooks!

The $1 section is out all the time. The only issue there being that the longer the stuff is out the more picked over it becomes. I have a feeling that from what I can remember from when dh worked there the $1 section stuff they might just get one shipment and then when it's gone they move on to other things. They've had our $1 section stuff out for about two weeks now and it's already starting to look a bit picked over...but still plenty of things. I think it might just depend on the store.

Anybody know where the cheapest COLLEGE RULE comp notebooks are?? Every year I find masses of wide rule comp books for cheap, but not college rule.
Staples has a 4-pack of Expo fine-point dry-erase markers for $2 this week.
Last year I found college-ruled composition books for like $.50/ea at Walmart. Couldn't hurt to keep an eye out if you're already there.

The generic wide or college ruled spiral bound notebooks were $.10/ea at Walmart as well a few years ago, so I haven't had to buy any in a while...

I've found them at Target for the last couple of years... I use them myself. I think it's usually 8 for $1, in a multi-pack.

I haven't looked yet this year...

I found Crayola crayons (the only kind...I dislike Rose Art) for 25 cents. Different folders with pockets and holes/brads for 15 cents...crayola markers for $1.

Target Dollar Spot is totally rocking right now and helping me organize! Totally cute little buckets for holding craft supplies...plus dry erase boards, stickers (Dr. Seuss!), etc. See here.

Off to lurk.

*whines* I want to go to Target. Wahhhh Such functional but fun stuff.

We went to Walmart and got glue sticks, markers, crayons and notebooks. We are fairly set for the year minus needing art supplies.

Anyone see good online deals? Sadly, it is cheaper for me to ship stuff than to drive. We only have a walmart in town.

Was just at my local Target.
Crayola crayons (24 ct I think?) were $.25/box.
Elmer's disappearing glue sticks were 2/$.25.
Composition notebooks, college (I checked!) and wide, $.50/ea.
Regular little spiral notebooks, $.15/ea.
Box of Crayola colored pencils, $1/ea.
Little hard-shell trinket/pencil boxes/cases, $.50/ea.

In the dollar section, I found rainbows of pipe cleaners, those fuzzy fluff balls, googly eyes (yeah, guess what we'll do one of these rainy days?), and those sticker foam things in shapes, people and letters/numbers.

Fred Meyer only had them beat with the spiral notebooks - my FM has an orange tear-pad of however many spiral notebooks for $.10/each. Oh, and they had some cute colored pencils my 6yo will love, but those weren't on sale.
