what's up with my tomatoes?

First, let it be known that I am NOT a gardener. I pretty much suck at growing things. However, I have always had success with tomatoes.

I have four tomato plants. Two are Juliets, one is Roma, and the last is Pineapple. I put them all in the ground at the same time, in rich soil in full sun, and they get enough water. All of the plants look huge and beautiful. It's been 6-8 weeks since they were planted, and all have flowers and/or fruit except for the Pineapple plant. It's big and bushy but not flowering. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to wait longer? The Juliet tomatoes are already ripening.

Sometimes if the soil has too much nitrogen the plants get huge and produce little fruit. Have you been fertilizing them? If so, with what?

Nope, I haven't used any fertilizer. We filled a raised bed with some gorgeous loam we brought over from my MIL's yard (she had a bunch dropped off to use as fill, but had too much).

The other three plants have a LOT of fruit.

Well I am going to hazzard a guess that Pineapple is a later producing tomato than the other two. The Baker Creek catalog has it at 75-95 days. 95 days is a really long time for a tomato as most of them tend to come in around 80 days. Roma is 76 days (and I can't find Juliet).

Yes, the tag said that it takes 90+ days to produce, but it also says the fruit can be as large as two pounds! I just thought the fruit would need a longer time to reach full size, therefore coming in earlier....?

So true. Well, hopefully this is what is going on. I love the pineapple tomato, so yummy.

I think Kathy's guess sounds reasonable. As for fruit size, I'm constantly amazed at just how fast a tomato can grow when you have one of the larger varieties!

Aha! Teeny, tiny, wittle-bitty flowers are developing!

I guess the Pineapple plant is just a late bloomer!
