I know that there have been some threads on stuttering, and I guess I'm not feeling troubled about what is going on with ds, but I"m curious and wondering if anyone has input.
Ds is really verbal--he's the only three year old I know at the moment, so I don't know what's typical, but typical for him is having been speaking in paragraphs and multi-syllabic words for about year/year and a half now. For about the same length of time, he's had something like a stutter where he will just get kind of stuck on a word. Initially, I thought it was mostly a matter of his brain being too far ahead of his mouth, but it's happening a little more often recently (we've got a developmental spurt in the works, too, so maybe that's it), and as an example, just today, he was in the middle of a statement and using the word, "then," only it turned into "then-en-en-en-en-en-en, then..."
He often pauses a bit when he's hung up like that, and we always wait for him to sort out what he's saying, and he doesn't seem bothered at all, just sort of like there's a misfire or a bump in the road. I'd say that it probably happens once or twice a day on average, sometimes noticeably more, sometimes I just don't really notice it.
I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has perspective on when something like this potentially becomes problematic. I am not feeling that he needs help at this point, but if he does need help at any point, I want to make sure that he gets it. And again, lately it seems that developmental leaps sort of coincide with more obvious stuttering, which makes sense to me, if circuits are a bit overloaded or whatever. I actually think he's starting to read some, lately, and maybe that has his language circuits working overtime?
I would be so very grateful for any voices of experience or perspective. Thank you!

, my brother apologized to me about it (
I guess he thought it was really bad), but it was starting to worry me. Then, a couple of days ago, a friend mentioned that it seemed to be getting better, and after reflecting on it, it really does seem to be getting better overall. So, I guess I am still in the wait and watch mode.
