8 mo old latch issue

DS is almost 8 mo, nursing has been great for the most part. We did have some biting issues when his teeth were new, but we got past it. He has 5 teeth now.

New problem, for the past few days, I feel like his latch is probably too shallow, and he is not taking enough into his mouth while he nurses. I can feel his teeth pressing and scraping my areola while he sucks. Ususally its the worst when he is sleepy/sleeping, so I hesitate to pull him off because I dont want to wake him up, but I do need to fix this somehow, because I am getting really sore.

TYIA!!

No one has any suggestions to fix a shallow latch for an established nurser?

I hope you get some answers. I'm having the exact same problem. I re-latch and re-latch and he just spits it back out to shallow,

my 8mo currently does this off and on. she has 6 teeth. I don't know a solution for it. This is what eventually led to me speeding up the would have been child-led weaning of my DS when he was 33months. Sorry, no help.

we've been having a similar prob, but man.. dd is right at 9 mos and only has 2 bottom teeth with the top ones currently erupting! i thought it was due to the pain of the top ones coming in. your babes are getting a full smile much faster than dd!
