Help?!

I don't know what to title this. It's about my "non-allergy" kid and I don't know what to think.

He used to throw up anytime he ate blueberries. So I don't let him eat blueberries and never thought more about it. This is my kid without any allergies as far as I can tell--no skin reactions, no sneezing, not anything about him that looks allergic. He did have extensive allergy testing and even a scope for EOS at 22 months due to failure to thrive and GI issues including severe reflux. We had pulled all allergens (top 8 plus) from his diet without any change in symptoms. All testing was negative as well.

Ok, so for months he's been vomiting periodically once or twice a week and consistently. Last week my husband pointed out that it's always happening on a certain day in his twin brother's rotation diet schedule. I hadn't paid attention so did and sure enough he is. He's also having what he describes as "vomit in his mouth" which looks something like reflux on that day and the next. He hasn't had reflux since 3.5 when we started treating a metabolic condition. I pulled pasta sauce (sweet potato and carrot base with some spices) and he's fine this week and last.

What in the world does that sound like? Allergy? Intolerance? Nothing? Something worse?

Well if it got better after pulling the sweet potato & carrot then I think one of those is either an allergen or irritating his stomach. At any rate, if it helped to pull them then I guess he doesn't get to eat them.

Call me crazy, but in my book, I would consider throwing up an allergy symptom.

Although I agree with Carren, I know that there are others on this forum who have vomiting strictly as an intolerance symptom.
It's so difficult to say on just one symptom alone.
sbgrace I know this is about the last thing you needed. But I am glad you figured it out. Good job!

Sigh - it's so not fun when our non-allergy kids have symptoms, isn't it? Sigh. Carrots are on my DS' undigestible list, even pureed, he poops orange. So I might suspect carrots.

Different thought, my NT 6yo (non-allergy kid) was also hugely refluxy as a baby, and tiny even now. She didn't have anything pop on her IgG testing either, and the very restricted diet we were all on last year made no difference for her. Pancreatic enzymes and ACAT support (that's Yasko's gene mutation that relates to fatty acid digestion & metabolism - 6 is a "full" dose, I only give her 1 - don't know if she has the mutation, but DS does, and I suspect DH as well) has made a huge difference for her - she's gaining weight well now. Shannon is experimenting with pine nut oil, in case that's an option, it seems to be having good benefits as well. I'm about to try that, see if we can get the same impact as the ACAT supports more cheaply.

I believe it's probably an allergy or intolerance as well, especially if you pulled something and it went away (and hooray for figuring out the food pretty quickly after you connected the dots!!). And I'm of the opinion (not shared by everyone I know) that reflux, barring a physical malformity, is also an allergy or intolerance symptom.
