Possible TMI question: Do you still shave "down there" while PG? - Page 2

i hate shaving, i hate stubble, oh and yeah i HATE hair

i wax,

have for years a full Brazilian with a good amount left up front, no tiny strip for me.
i have been waxing for nearly 2 decades and I'm still am waxing now. i have enough things that can make me feel yucky that i have no control over in pregnancy, this one i will make sure i have my way.

as soon as i can after the birth i will continue the laser treatments that i had just started before pregnancy.

I can't see it, so I don't shave it.

I had laser hair removal so not a whole lot to worry about, but sometimes I like to be more bare than I am (I just had the sides lasered, nothing dramatic)--so I wax myself; always have. But that's been out of the question for some time now!

So a couple days ago (at almost 39 weeks) I went in and got a Brazilian at a local salon. I guess I didn't really realize what a full Brazilian entailed--either that or this aesthetician had a particularly radical view of the Brazilian--but man I've got NOTHING down there now.

I don't think I cared particularly with dd, and frankly although I wanted to be tidy for the birth (not that anyone would care!), having NO hair down there really weirds me out!

when you request a Brazilian you need to specify what shape or amount is left up front, a lot of ladies leave just a small "landing strip" i leave a midsize triangle, its very important to be specific. when i go to a new lady i usually clip pretty short, leaving them just what they need and then draw a line where i was then to wax too. any time i grow too much to see the line from last time i draw it again. it makes things quicker even with a lady i have used for a long time.

I do the same, pretty much. Hubby's beard trimmer and standing over a full length mirror. For some reason, all the hair on my legs and arms is pretty much gone (on its own) but the pubic hair and underarm hair are just as thick and fast growing as ever. I can't stand it. I do wax my underarms but I don't dare wax "down there" because I can't see and wax is super sticky and would probably drip all over the floor and make a huge mess and so not be worth it.

I've always gone au natural, but in the hot months, and esp while pregnant, I'll give myself a little haircut. Literally! I just take my hair cutting scissors, pull the hair straight and *snip*. Not too close to the labia, of course! It's just enough to take care of the mess from the extra discharge, but doesn't leave me vulnerable to friction, etc.

Hahaha... before reading this thread I haven't shaved my yoni in YEARS. After reading I thought, 'ooooh, that might feel good to be shaved down there', I've been so hot and with all the discharge and stuff....

I had my DH use clippers and now its ALL GONE. LOL. we'll see how I like it.

I only trim. And then I do it until I cant see anymore and have dh tell me when it needs done and he does it for me.

I was a swimming teacher in 2002 so I would get waxed every month a full Brazilian. If i added up how much i have spent over eight years, holy cow it would be a small fortune!! I prefer to feel bare down there, I cant shave because I get ingrowns if I do.
I feel ripped off though, when I have c/s with ds #1 my dr said I wouldnt have to worry about hair growing back around the scar area, but no such luck, it still grows!!

Hahaha, so I'm not the only one?

I try to keep it tidy, I'm not nearly as anal as I was in my 20s, especially before I was married. But it bugs me when it gets too long so I try to keep up with it.

My last pregnancy towards the end I let it go, I couldn't see and could have cared less anyway. I'm sure it'll be the same with this pregnancy.

When I'm not preggo, I get Brazilians.

When I am, I use an electric razor. Sure not as smooth as waxing, but I don't feel the need to go through the pain, and then I can spend the money on a massage :-)

reading this thread makes me a tad bit gratefull for my alopecia. I haven't had pubic hair since 2003. Every time my OB gives me an exam she proceeds to ask me how I'm doing as far as handling my condition. It's kind of funny. Alopecia definately has it's pros and cons

Okay, now this topic is interesting! I cannot shave (with razor) because I get razor bumps, then itchy, then ingrowns, every time. So, I do just clip with an electric one (I have my own), when I get around to it. Do other people not have trouble with ingrowns? I just can't imagine being able to use a straight razor down there!

I've always wondered about getting waxed. I used to do my own legs, but then started getting in-growns from that too, so gave it up. Now I shave every once in a while when it's too embarrassing, and that's about it.

So, my question is, when you get a Brazilian, do you go in right after a shower, or what? Do they give you a nice cleaning too??

I also get waxed. I noticed when I went last time it was more sensitive than usual. I'm wondering how bad that's going to get!?

Me too! I shave if I'm going swimming but it's so itchy and even painful that I honestly avoid swimming because of it. Really -- it looks like welts. I got a Brazilian once and though it wasn't as bad as shaving it still gave me ingrowns and it was still itchy. So I go au naturelle virtually all the time.

are you kidding...I don't even shave my legs anymore!
I do admire those ladies who can keep up the tidy look...I can't even touch my toes.

I usually use a razor and scissors, almost bare.
But the last two pregnancies I have a really hard time reaching and it's driving me crazy.
Would an electric clipper really be much easier than a razor?
