ringworm questions

So I think my 5 mo has ringworm. (It's endemic in the soil here, dog got it last year when he was a puppy.)

It seems like the written descriptions for a number of other rashes resemble ringworm. Anything else it could be? Yeast rash? It looks like the classic red ring with a less red center, but there are other miscellaneous bumps elsewhere and general redness under her chins.

When Dog had it, I just put some tea tree oil in his dog shampoo (w/o caring too much about proportions) and used some old athlete's foot cream we had hanging around. Obviously w/LO i'd like to be a little more careful. Suggestions, proportions, recipes all appreciated!

Desert Essence makes a TTO blend that is pretty mild. I've used it on my babies for insect bites, and doesn't bother them. That would work for a variety of rashes, even if you aren't certain it's ringworm. Alternatively, you could dilute TTO with a carrier oil like olive, almond, jojoba, or coconut oil. Probably not more than 1:1, and maybe less TTO. You might start out on the milder side, just to be safe. I know there are other options, but it's late, and I'm tired, and I can't think of anything else right now.

Ringworm is a fungus, so it could easily co-exist with other yeasts, I imagine. I would put the TTO in coconut oil as it is especially good for fungus.

You could also try neem in any form, but I gotts warn ya, it's smells like a swamp in the middle of a heat wave! LOL

i've tried both TTO and garlic when DD had a spot. I also called the pedi to ask about an over the counter, which i bought and balked at.. the ped says it's fine to use topically ( packaging says to check with dr. if under a year of age) but it went away with the tto and garlic and sun exposure, and did not spread. never used the store bought stuff but thought you'd like to know that you can if you want to, at least according to our pedi.

If it's ringworm, only an anti fungal will work. We used lotrimin otc cream for DD and it took weeks for it to go away, it was on her side. She was 4 years old when we did it, though, I would definitely call the dr to check on using it on a 5 month old.
Is it on your LO's face? Make sure it is covered if it is in an area not covered by clothing.
