I made my first tote bag who else is into tote making

So I made my first tote bag after all. Lets just say I think I need some more practice. I am planning on putting some new decorations or designs on my first couple of totes. I want to try something unique. I will be working with the bedazzler (that I couldn't remember the name for). If your a tote designer you can share too what other decorative techniques you like to use on your totes.

I make totes! I don't know what I'd do without them. Last week I stayed up the night before we were leaving for vacation and made three totes and a few small matching toiletries bags. And last year before we went on vacation I did the same thing! I do my best work under pressure.

I've done different styles and shapes, but I never decorate/embellish due to lack of time. (Unless you count the decorative stitch I did across the top of dd's tinkerbell bag!)

I loved making my tote, but stopped after the one because I was afraid I wouldn't stop

I used this blog http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/?p=514 Super easy! I think it took me maybe 2 hours. Plus this blog is awesome anyway, no I wish it were mine...

I am mass producing 100 grocery bags for a fundraiser. I am using the Nancy's Notions green tote bag pattern. They were kind enough to donate fabric, sewing instructor, space and copies of their pattern. Now, I have my own sweat shop going on!!

I love, love, love making totes. They are my favorite thing to sew. So easy. I don't really decorate them. I do use two different fabrics for the outside and line the inside. And, I use canvas handles so I'm not sewing them -- that really simplifies things. You can buy the handles by the yard at the fabric store.

Fun!

I am making several totes/purse& drawstring type bags for my DD bday gifts..(making these in leu of wrapping paper might as well make something useful and you can't have enough reuseable bags with kids!)
