Gluten Allergy Test?

I need to call my 13 month olds Dr tomorrow and make an appointment, because I want to discuss allergy concerns and someone mentioned (on here) that there was a blood test they could do for gluten allergy? Do I just ask for it? Does it have a name? Our family practice doctors are kind of hopeless sometimes so I want to go in with as much info as possible...

Do you mean Celiac disease? That is an autoimmune disease where your body reacts to gluten. It is not an allergy. There is a series of blood tests for it (which can be unreliable before 24 months or so). You can also do a blood test for a wheat allergy but again, uner 2 they aren't as reliable.

Hmmm... good to know! My younger son is having some issues and I don't really know how to go about figuring out what foods might be causing it since he is so little.
