Help me stop his runny poops

DS (18 months) and I had a stomach bug for the last few days. He had a pretty mild case. He vomited once, had fever and had diarrhea, but only a handful of times. Today he woke up feeling great. He played, ate meals and snacks, and had no fever/vomiting. Tonight just before bed he had diarrhea again. I know he still feels fine because the noisiness of the pooping made him laugh, and he went to bed as usual.

So, what can I feed to help firm up his poop again? Apples, bananas, yogurt, any other ideas?

I should add that he doesn't have any food allergies and is no longer nursing.

I thought fruit generally loosened stool I would definitely do yogurt and possibly some other form of probiotic. The bug might have messed with his intestinal flora.
Hope it clears up quickly.

Bananas, grains, apples(with peel)...... Applesauce, or juice, will make it runny. But apples with peels help to firm up poop.

Depends on the fruit. You want to avoid most fruit, but bananas and apples are good. Also toast, oatmeal, and yogurt.

With my DS we used the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apples and toast) when he was getting over diarrhea.

Every child is a little different, but generally what previous posters mentioned would help.

In our case even whole apples would cause a significant amount of loose stools. Some say to avoid dairy all together while fighting a stomach bug b/c it can cause temporary lactose/dairy intolerance (I think it was on Dr. Sears site?)

Lot's of probiotics for sure, and give it about a week to get back to normal I've read.

Thanks everyone! This is our first tummy bug, so I'm a newbie!
