Confused first timer...

Hi ladies!

I'm a bit confused and could use some thoughtful advice

I think I"m 16 DPO today. I have had loads of symptoms up through 12 DPO with a major back pain (lower back center) pain and cramping for about 20 minutes then nothing else.

I thought that was implantation.

Since then though... I've had nothing but BFN. That was Thursday, and I've had nothing but BFN over the weekend. I know I've been doing the POAS correctly cause I'm using a cup and dipping for a full five seconds.

Usually, at this time in my cycle, I'd have had a few incidents of AF cramps. I haven't had those very noticeable moments.

I'm confused...

1) I felt my standard O twinge then BD'd a bunch. Is it possible that O actually happened a day or two after that?

2) I have long cycles. So 17 days from O to AF is totally standard, sometimes it's a bit longer. Would that affect anything?

3) Once the blastocyst is pumping out HCG, and it builds up enough, it's in the urine, right? It can't like "get used up" doing its job and not show up?

Sorry... I'm just confused. I felt so strongly that so much was happening that hadn't before - uterine cramping in the low center pelvis, some morning nausea (that's gone now), super thirsty, easily dehydrated, veins standing up off the BBS, tiredness...

BBS are "tender" inside but not painfully so, nor are the nipples strongly painful to the touch.

I appreciate any feedback.

If Af is not due until at earliest tomorrow, then there is a great possibility that a bfn could change to a bfp.

Personally I feel O pains a day after O.

Fertility Friend says QUOTE "When you feel ovulation pain (not everyone does) you can feel it before, during or even just after ovulation, and many other kinds of cramps or twinges can be mistaken for it, so it is not a good indicator for pinpointing ovulation on a particular day. It provides an additional clue, like other secondary fertility signs. Ovulation pain can not be used as a primary indicator for pinpointing ovulation. It is best to look at all signs and the "big picture" when interpreting your chart."

Have you confirmed ovulation with charting your temperature? I'm wondering it you're ovulating later than you think. An LP longer than 17 days is fairly uncommon, I believe. If you aren't pregnant, I highly recommend charting your BBT to make sure you're not missing O.

Also, you could still get a BFP! Some women just test + later than others. Best wishes to you!

thanks... maybe O is later. I haven't been charting my temps and I'm going to see if I can get by without fueling my obsessive TTC tendencies in that way.

Hopefully I'll be able to share a BFP sometime soon.

I thought my mittleschmertz was a good tool - but if AF comes, I'm just going to BD every other day after that and see what happens.

I sometimes have O pain the day before, of, and after O, with the strongest pain occurring on O day. Mittleschmertz is a good backup sign, but in and of itself not necessarily reliable.

Well... no matter what it is I am unsure of what DPO I'm at now... sometime between 14-17 DPO. Haven't tested again because the slew of BFN's this weekend was super depressing!

A week ago Monday I felt super pregnant - I use my yoga practice as a guide. I was all over the place and exhausted and bloated last week. Last night it was normal - taking class then teaching class left me charged up and full of energy.

So... it's about CD 34 and definitely time for AF to arrive for me. Weirdly I have none of my usual AF cramping that should be going on and should have been going on.

My body was sending me so much information during the 2ww but in this 2ww part 2 I'm not feeling symptomatic or tired at all. I"m in no-woman's land here of negative tests, no AF, no SIGNS of AF (I'm a champion cramper). Haven't tested since Monday about 4am.

Have one digital test left over and am saving it for Friday before hubby and I head to Montreal. If it's negative, I'll have some drinks. Hopefully AF shows up soon to end my confusion. Frankly that would be really great. We're looking forward to next month.

Instead of trying to pinpoint O I'm going to have lots of sex. Hubby and I feel good about that option ha ha ha.

Theoretically I could be pregnant but as another poster said, what are the odds that I could be one of those people who doesn't show up BFP till 18-20 DPO?

if you did not even test at a possible 13dpo... you very much could be pregnant.

The odds of being someone that does not test positive before 13dpo are actually fairly high. Especially if you are not using a FRER... and I was using a FRER and didn't get a BFP until 13dpo (and at that, faintest one i have ever seen!)

I've used 6 FRERs but not in the last two days. I used my last one Sunday.

Oh boy... now I want to test again ha ha ha all I have left is a clear blue digital.

I've been getting my O pain before O starting two days ahead lately.

Until I started temping I only knew my O date "within a few days" using my physical signs and I hoped that would be enough. But I started temping so I would know for sure and to help me have enough info to avoid the tests. TCOYF states that after 18 days of high temps you are almost certainly PG.

Also I would strongly suggest BD before O, because if you are Oing the same you feel O pains and that's the day you first BD you are pretty likely to miss the egg. If you are Oing later that your pains you're probably timing BD just right.

I think losing symptoms @12dpo may be a positive sign, though. I hope you get your BFP soon. GL!

thank you for your kind words littlest birds!!! I do think that's what's happening - that I'm feeling the pain about two days before I actually O -

My plan for next month is to get to CD10 and BD every other day. Hubby is excited for this plan.

I'm pretty sure that AF is right around the corner now, I woke up in a black black mood and have a major case of the f*ck its.

I'm chalking this one up to learning If I hadn't been so 2ww obsessed I wouldn't have learned all this. THANKS EVERYONE!

just remember anna, you want to ideally bd before o, not after, so if you are indeed feeling o pain at the time of ovulation (without temping, it's really hard to say,) if you start bd'ing at that time, you are not giving yourself the best shot. the egg is only viable for probably about 12 hours after ovulation (some say 6-24 hours, but most agree it's around 12 or so.) the best time to bd is on the 2 days before o, statistically. sperm can live a few days up there under fertile conditions. good luck!

Any news yet on AF?

I just wanted to let you know, I am one of the women who consistently flunk pregnancy tests. I have really low hormone levels, and even at 6-8 weeks got a BFN. Here's a link to my story... http://www.mothering.com/discussions...=#post15607452 I went on to gestate a healthy, normal boy, who is the apple of my eye!

So if AF isn't here yet, there's still hope for you! It's not over until it's over.
