I thought I remembered that you guys were supposed to have some kind of hearing this week? Have there been any developments? hope you and your kids are all safe and well.

Thanks, yes we did. It was for contempt for him not paying child support ever. Apparently he gets the right to face me in person because it is a criminal hearing. The judge denied hearing me telephonically so we had to withdraw it. So my ex continues to get away with breaking court orders. We did file sanction charges for the court hearings he never attended. I think that is in October. He told the kids he will get them for Christmas break.

will you be rescheduling the contempt hearing? Why do you not want to face him in person?

I live 1200 miles away from him and the court hearings. I'm a full time worker and a full time student single handedly raising several children with zero financial support. I have a lawyer that goes to all hearings. It isn't very feasible for me to travel there for a hearing. Time, money and children just won't allow it.

ohhhh (sorry). I wonder why you need to be there and not just have a representative there. Can you get the hearings moved to where you and the children reside?

In a criminal proceeding, the defendant has the right to face his accuser. It's a constitutional right, so its hard to avoid.

It sounds like, in order to be taken seriously by this very crazy judge, you will need to find a way to get there for a court date. OR maybe you can move the jurisdiction since the kids reside with you- that would make a lot more sense to me...
