I miss breastfeeding. :(

My ds has pretty much stopped at the age of 33 months. I am so sad. This is probably our last child, and I feel almost like I am grieving. I know I did my best for him by nursing as long as I could, but now I have no more milk, and even though he asks occasionally for "nom" now, nursing feels weird without any milk and I just feel odd about letting him have my breast when there is no milk there. I am so sad, probably also because we aren't going to have any more kids (at least that's not part of the plan for now).

Just sharing, hoping for some encouragement. It's hard letting this part of our relationship pass. I know it's normal and natural and I did nothing to make him begin to wean, it's been a very gradual process over the last 6 months or so... totally his decision. I'm just sad.

My DD is only 3.5 months but I know that if something happened to where I couldn't BF I would be devastated. I can't say I truly understand what you're feeling because I have never ended a BF relationship but I am sending hugs your way! Feel good about what you've done, you did the best possible thing you could for your children and you should be proud of that!

Thanks so much. It's hard to pass from one stage of their lives to the next. With my 4 y.o. I see him learning numbers and letters and starting to read, and although I am so proud, I feel twinges of pain every time he becomes more independent. Same with my 2 y.o., stopping nursing is just another stage. He made it almost to three, or I should say WE did, which is longer than I nursed my first child... 19 months. I stopped when 5 months pregnant with my second because the contractions got so bad.

Congratulations on your first baby, and your nursing relationship. You have many more months/years of this close bond before you will move on. Hugs.
