Anyone else using soy iso this cycle?

A bit of background on me:

We conceived DD my first month off of BCPs, the first time we ever had unprotected sex.

Since she was born two years ago we haven't used any birth control. We have been not trying, not preventing, and open to what happens.

Now that it has been two full years of no birth control, I am starting to get a little concerned. I think our timing has just been off, and we admittedly haven't BD'd a whole lot because of work and family pressures. But it has been two years!

So this month we are getting serious. I have started charting, and am going to try soy isoflavones. I suspect that I might have a short luteal phase because my cycles have only been 25 to 26 days, but I haven't been charting so I don't know for sure. I am also taking B6.

I am currently CD 2 and trying to decide if I should start the soy tonight, tomorrow or Wednesday.

So is anyone else trying soy this time around? I'd love to have a buddy.

I'm using 40mg of Soy Isoflavones, CD3-7. I am on my 5th day of it today, CD7.

I've used it in the past as well, twice. Once with no results, the second time I got pregnant, but miscarried. I also had, what I and my doctor felt was a ruptured ovarian cyst. So, be careful about your doses. At those times I took 80mg.

Me too! AF came this morning and I plan to do the soy days 3-7.

We have 3 kids but the youngest is 7. We have been wanting another for a couple of years and have not been avoiding. I have been actively TTC for 3 mo now and with me at 36 I know now is the time to go all out trying. We won't be doing all the medical interventions so I am really praying this works.

I went back and read the other long thread on women starting it and it made`for some great info. Lets keep this updated and maybe at least 1 of us will get a BFP this month!!!

Im on cd15 and no O in sight, not even cm. Usually i O on day 13/14 with a abundant cm a couple of days beforehand that give me plenty of warning that O is impending. Nothing today.

I took 75mg on cd 3-7 (100mg on the last 2 days) of this cycle.

I hope O comes around, im worried and sad about it. I hate things happening in my body that i dont understand. O better be pretty good when it actually comes around eventually. :-) I keep checking myself, dry!!!! (sorry if tmi)

I'm planning on using it again this month too. I'm on CD1 today, I'm not sure if I'll do 3-7, 4-8, or 5-9 yet... I have really weird symptoms @ O day some months, and I didn't last month AND I had a nice increase in BBT post-O, I'm hoping it was the soy and that I actually O'd (and missed BD time ) I don't remember the dosage off hand, but after some more reading, I think I'll go from 2 pills to 1, I remember starting on the higher dose for some reason...

Hmmm.... I am still not sure how much to take. Most of what I have seen online has been 150 to 200 mgs. I also get the impression that if you are a bigger person, you need to take more? I am a plus sized mama. I have 50mg capsuls and the directions on the bottle say to take 1 to 3 daily, so I am thinking of trying 150mg. I don't have any history of cysts so I am not too worried about that... but of course I will end up kicking myself if I end up with one.

Today is CD2 (maybe 3.... I always spot first so I find nailing down a firm CD a little tricky) and I think I am going to start tonight.... mainly because I want to feel like I am doing something!!

So I have taken two doses of 150mgs so far. I haven't had any side effects yet other than being a little moody.... but it is hard to tell if it is regular period moody, if the kids are being extra difficult, or if it is an actual side effect.

Just_Lily... The ruptured cyst was my first cyst, I had no history of it either.

AAM... I'm on CD9, 3rd day of EWCM, but it was "had to dig, jiggle my cervix" EWCM. I am having headahes, which I rarely get. I guess that could be from the Soy.

CD11 - Had headaches all day yesterday, too. I just woke up, and I think the headaches are gone, I guess I'll know for sure soon.

I looked back at my Soy Pregnancy chart and I ovulated on CD15. I usually ovulate on CD13. Having a day or 2 later O this cycle might actually be good for BD timing.

Ugh. Huge headache today. Took my fourth dose last night.

I don't get headaches very often and so far Advil isn't touching this and I can't even wear my hear in a ponytail because it hurts. I hope it goes away soon as I have big plans to redecorate my play room this weekend.

I took Soy this cycle and the only thing different was that I actually had O pain on the day I o'ed in the afternoon! and we DTD in that morning! so FX
and I always get + OPK's but not REALLY + Opks... but this cycle I did for the first time ever, so im pretty sure my surge was stronger! Other then that nothing different, I plan to take SI next cycle if this cycle dont work out...

how is everyone else getting on?

lily, im sorry im getting to this thread late. there is also a soy isoflavones help thread on the main page, just in case you want to look at that.

re: dosage. 150-200 is a big dose. you can get a good result at 40-80. a couple issues with higher doses- the most important being, unless you are not absolutely certain you have no latent thyroid issues you risk not o'ing on soy. soy will exaggerate any thyroid issues you have, and thyroid is one of the most often missed issues in ttc, especially in women with long cycles or anovulatory cycles who are not pcos.

the other thing is, if it doesnt work for you this month, i would try a lower dose as well if you are heavy built. adipose tissue (fluff) produces estrogen on it's own. a lot of women therefor who are on the heavy side have estrogen dominance situations, and i dont think soy is likely to help- it blocks your estrogen receptors so you make MORE estrogen!

if you are heavy too, if you havent had a blood sugar test, or a general ttc basic workup with your ob/gyn, after 2 years of not tta, i would definitely consider that too, just to be on the safe side. it may be something very simple to fix along those lines.

good luck and hope this wont matter because you get pg this cycle!

I just wanted to offer a little encouragement. I have PCOS and hadn't ovulated in over 2 year in spring of 2005. I decided to try the soy isoflavones (150mg a day over cd 3-7) and I got pregnant the first cycle! She is now 4.5 and sitting beside me on the couch watching Caillou. Good luck all!

I took 40 mg soy days 3 and 4, skipped days 5 and 6 and took 80 and on day 7. I skipped the two days because I was horribly sick with a sinus infection and head/chest cold. I had prolonged PMS, a headache I could not get rid of and was soooo irritable. My O day did move up by at least a day, two I think and I had increased EWCM but that could be because I am no longer taking a very drying medication. If we don't get a BFP this mo, I will try again next mo, keeping the low dose but for the full 5 days.

I got a BFP last cycle, and it was my second month of using soy (on CD 3-7). We have been trying for nearly 2 years with infertility problems, so I am not sure if it was just finally our time or any of the many supplements DH and I were taking.

AF arrived on time. So, the Soy didn't work this time. Though the BD timing wasn't as good as I would have liked.

I am not taking it this cycle. I'm going to do a couple other things instead.
