Regression: wetting the bed

I have a (new) 6 yo that just started sleeping without a diaper six months ago. This only works if we get her up 2 hours after she goes to sleep to go potty one last time. We don't have a problem with this. (Okay, a little inconvenient at times - camping. But it's not going to last forever, right? right?) Anyway, two nights ago she started peeing all night. We've taken her potty at least once and changed her bed three times each night. As you can imagine, this is taking a toll on our sleep and our washing machine.

My DH wants to put her back in a diaper. I'm not sure that's such a good idea. Do any of you have an advice? BTDT stories? Could she have a bladder infection and not know it? Her and I had a tremendous fight on Saturday, could it be stress/anxiety? If so, anyway to undo that "damage" that is causing this problem?

I'm just not sure what to do. Her self esteem will take a big hit if we put her back in diapers. (She worked really hard to get out of them.) But we can't let her sleep in puddles of pee either, that causes yeast infections.

Sigh ... now I'm babbling and talking in a circle.

yeah, I'd say no to going back....
i think it's just going to have to be disturbed sleep for a while, but you could put a pad with a waterproof base on the bed; they're cheap ( they're the ones used in hospitals, and I use them for when I'm changing my DD out, and also for long journeys for my DS, in case he falls asleep) it'd save alot of sheet washing, and they're so slim, they're un-intrusive. They are small, blue on one side and white on the other.

I'd also talk to a health care someone, as when you say 'new' do mean adopted or fostered or am I barking up the wrong tree! If the former, it may be to do with memories and regression that can be handled with a soft touch.... if the latter, ignore me!

Wrong word choice on my part, I should have said young 6 - she just turned 6 last month.

Those pads are a great idea. Thanks!

Did she have a growth spurt? I have heard it's common for a kid to have a regression after a growth spurt: their bladder not keeping up with the new demands of their bigger body.

All I know is that the kid keeps ALMOST getting to staying dry every night, has a growth spurt, and it all goes out the window.

That's very interesting thought. She recently went on Thyroid support - she has hypothyroidism - and we've upped her protein and coconut milk intake. I wonder if she's actually started gaining weight ........

Off to weigh her.

Both of mine had regressions around that time. We never pinpointed any reason for either of them, but it only lasted a few weeks and then just stopped.

So sorry...! put my foot in it!

this is the link to the kind of thing I'm talking about.

I have also heard that changes in a diet or medical treatment can affect frequency of needing to 'pee'

Again, apologies.
