I haven't seen too many threads on SPD. I think that I have beginning symptoms. It started in the midst of moving houses - even though I've tried to be conscious about lifting and moving things. Didn't think that it would cause girdle pain.

Anyway, the pain is right in the crux of the inner thigh, if that makes sense. I had horrible SI pain with the last babe. That hasn't been too much of an issue this time, although last night pains seemed to be alternating between the right SI and left thigh. Fun! Sounds like a torque to me! Luckily I got into a chiropractor who is supposedly on my insurance. Chiropractic healed my SI pain last time, but baby was still malpositioned.

I wonder if you could share your experience of SPD, where it hurt, and what helped. Luckily it's just an annoyance for me right now and not preventing me from going up stairs, etc.

Mine started around 12 weeks as lower back pain... i could no longer do my mile walk every night. Some people were calling me a cry-baby for it even lol... but seriously it HURT. It wasn't that I was walking bad (was wearing shoe inserts and conscious of how my posture was) it just hurt...

Then sometime around 17-18 weeks it started in my groin... just as a burning sensation. At first I seriously thought I had some sort of infection because of how it felt, but then I realized a very real connection to me standing and moving for long periods of time... and the pain.

around 23-24 weeks it got so bad in my back and groin that I could hardly walk, had to go to the chiro. Chiro told me it was SPD, adjusted me and I felt a ton better, midwife suggested a support belt and several other suggestions.

around 27 weeks it was so bad I could hardly walk from the beach where we got married, up the 12 or so steps to the shelter we had our reception in. I had two Marines (my brand-new husband and his brother) supporting me with either arm, supporting a lot of my weight and it was still so hard to do!

it was around then that my pubic bone started to hurt too, before then it didnt hurt which made me question if it was really SPD... well, evidently it doesnt HAVE to hurt to be SPD but man when it hurts, it hurts!

Every now and then when we go shopping DH makes me ride in the courtesy wheelchair. I argue and walk most of the time though... and then regret it because I am almost in tears from the pain. I think, really, I hate admitting that it hurts as bad as it does, but man it does.

32 weeks tomorrow... I find the only thing that makes me feel 100% better is to float in the pool... just completely float, no floaty cushion or anything. And then, when I stop floating I go right back to hurting really bad. I need to see a chiro again, but I moved 1100 miles from my old chiro =(

All I can do is keep reminding myself, the end is in sight... I am due in 8 weeks, I will for certain have my little girl in my arms in the next 10 and should start feeling better as all of the post-labor pain subsides as well.

So uh... what helps?

A support belt for sure! I love this one and as long as I put it on as the instructions describe, I do not need DHs assistance getting it on and for the most part it helps a lot. Not 100% but a lot and a lot is better than none!

Chiro... I should be going more but I do not know/trust any around here...

Avoid all of the things the websites on SPD say to avoid... I didnt, I lifted boxes while moving and step over things all the time and I know that contributed in large to why I hurt so bad!

I haven't been officially diagnosed but I'm pretty sure that's what I have. It started with my son's pregnancy in Feb 2008. It's my hip, in the back..but also my pubic bones and pelvis. Sometimes I'm immobile for hours or days. It sucks.
