Help! Need sibling name to blend well with DD's name

Thread Starter
My DD's name is Arwen Gayle. She has a baby brother due in September. I am still looking for a name. I want a name that is not very common, but it doesn't have to be super, super rare.

The boy name doesn't have to "match" per se, I just want a name that doesn't sound too at odds with Arwen. Any suggestions?

how about Elladan or Elrohir

I had friends growing up named Thorin and something else from the books

What about River? Callan?

When i put "Arwen" into nymbler, I get:
Gulliver
Atom
Zenith
Endymion
Banjo (???)
Sirius
Caspian
Albus
Eragon
Legolas
Ajax
Atlas
Michelangelo
Severus

When I put "Arwen" and "Gayle," I get:
James
Allen
Ray
Nemo (rofl)
Rock
Armani
Glenn
Jere
Tommy
Glen
Ron
Danny
Ethan
Duane
Jim

How about Eragon James?

eta: I don't know the literary reference, so i could be way off base.

I love Callum.

is it safe to assume that since you chose Arwen, you like the more whimsical sounding names in general? because i too was going to suggest Thorin. I love Thorin and almost felt set on using that if this babe was a boy. (Thorin Wolfe)

(and i've not read nor watched the LoTR trilogies, so not aware of just how strong the associations potentially will/can be)

Seriously?! its funny you would say Eragon and not know the reference!

Shes a character from Lord of the Rings (the two names I gave were her twin brothers names) and she married Aragorn (which is awfully close to Eragon lol)

When I needed to come up with a name to go with Lola I used a website that charted names by popularity by decade. Lola was very popular in the 1920's so we went with another name that was big at the time (Harlan).

LOL! I just picked the one from Nymber that I though sounds the nicest! How funny is that.

i LOVE the name callum. wanted it to work for us, but it doesn't go with our last name. i think it sounds nice with arwen! other names that come to mind are silas, avery, asher, river, roan.... good luck! (love the name arwen too, suggested it each time but dh would go for it cause of the LOTR connection and the timing of the movies coming out)

I like Callum too, but know 4 babes born in the last year with that name. What about Rowan? It's GN and some ppl don't like that.

River and Rowan are slipping into girl territory. Just thought I'd toss that out there. I used to run a new mom's group and the daddies would get so mad when a girl had their son's name.

Hey, as a total LOTR/medievalist geek I offer up my kid's name:

Gwydion

Goes great with Arwen and also has some super-cool literary references behind it. Besides Tolkein pillaged medieval British stories for names and themes...so can you!

What about Ansel?

I also like Eamon.

Kellan

Muir is another rare, but wonderful, boy's name. And you couldn't find a better namesake. Means "Sea" in Scottish Gaelic.
you could call him Owain, that is a Welsh spelling/pronunciation of Owen.

Ciaran?
