Protein shakes?

thank you!

I have been occasionally having a protein shake. My husband likes them because he finds them easier than making food when he works at home during the day and I am gone, so we have them around. I also used to use Spirutein when in college!

I just use whey powder (read the ingredients to make sure no artificial sweetner). The one I have does have sugar, however, it doesn't taste like an overload of sugar. There are lots of protein powders to chose from.

I blend a scoop in the blender with a cup of milk and either a frozen banana, or a cup of frozen blueberries

I have a protein shake almost every day.... I use Jarrow Vanilla Whey

mixed with hemp milk. Its REALLY good and sweetened with fructose (I am allergic to cane sugar).

Its a good deal for the $, too.

Crazy pg food aversions! (I FINALLY discovered today that I no longer hate Larabars, which used to be my favorite quick snack.)

For the smoothies, would you still hate peanut butter (or almond butter or cashew butter) if it were blended up with bananas, cocoa powder, vanilla, and maybe some milk or coconut milk thrown in? My dd's love this combo (me too).

I used to eat a lot of protein shakes, but I gave up due to laziness. I eat lots of meat and dairy so I guess I just figured that was good enough after a while.
However, I think what I figured out was really good so here it is:
I didn't want soy or whey, they seemed like possible hormone-disrupting problems, so I got brown rice powder. The first brown rice powder I got was really gritty but tasted good, then I switched it for an organic variety which was also gritty but tasted kind of smoky and gross.
Ok, so far it sounds bad, I know...then, I used one banana, some plain yogurt, some milk, some frozen blueberries, some coconut oil, and some Ovaltine for flavor.
That was it, it was slightly weird because of the rice powder but it was very healthy...it didn't make me feel paranoid the way soy and whey made me feel. It was also nice and purple due to all the blueberries. Maybe I will try to unearth the blender and make this drink again.

Sidenote: The Jarrow brand whey powder is hormone free.
