Garber-OB/Risa Klein-CNM for VBAC?

I've heard some good things about Andrew Garber and I know that he backs Risa Klein as a midwife. I would like to VBAC this time around and I know my best chances are with a supportive OB and an attending midwife.

I would love to hear from anyone who has worked with Garber and/or Risa Klein. I think they deliver at Holy Name in Teaneck...almost zero info on MDC about Holy Name, which concerns me!

Thanks!

i took a tour of holy name and was unimpressed, though i have friends who have delivered there and loved it.

i also spoke to risa on the phone and she sounded amazing. just talking to her for 45 minutes made me feel very at ease with her knowledge level. i gained a lot of weight with ds#1 and she said things about not accepting ME unless i was committed to having a healthier pregnancy this time around so my uterus would be in better shape. i liked that she was putting it in my hands and pushing me, unlike the OB i was with at the time who just made it sound like it didn't matter and that i didn't have any control over it.

i ended up going with avalon because they take my insurance. unfortunately i can't afford risa.

Dr. Garber also backs my HBMW, Anne Margolis. I saw him when I went for an U/S at his office and we spoke a bit, he seemed very nice and is more progressive than your average OB (after all, he backs MW's). That being said, he is hesitant about HB, but he does back the MW's, so his actions speak louder than words, IMHO.

I met Dr Garber too because he backed my homebirth with seventh moon homebirth (which I highly recommend!!!) and he was very nice and supportive.

I had a long and difficult labor for pregnancy #1. Started out as a homebirth and ended up transferring to the Risa/Garber combo at Holy Name. I was met at Holy Name hospital by Risa (my MW called her first) who, with her expertise, I was able to have a natural birth. I was close to having a C-section but she's the reason I didn't. Holy Name was great, my DD stayed with me the whole time, rooms were nice. Lactation Consultant so helpful. I just hated the all-night nurse who showed up every hour to do her thing, but I guess that's what they do. I had no problems with that hospital, had never been there before the birth.

For this pregnancy now I'm planning a HB with Seventh Moon midwivery but was comforted to know they are backed by Risa and Garber.
