scrapbooking and photos, etc oh and the dreaded college/high school papers...

So i have gotten into the habit of chucking my bills/paying some online in a decent fashion. But is it better to keep photos/cards etc in a scrapbook or just in boxes? I find that the scrapbooks look nice, take up less space and we will actually go through them every so often, whereas the boxes of all the mixed up sentimentals just looks ugly in my spare closet...Il's will be visiting from india in the fall and they would probably gasp and think i was hoarder if they saw this closet of pictures and boxes, and honestly i don't care to look in there myself.

And do i keep my college notes or get rid of them? as time goes on i don't see much use for them even if they don't take up much space. Most my high school papers are writing/journals and i suppose i will keep them in a box for now.

I would rather have photos and cards in scrapbooks/albums. Actually getting them into scrapbooks and albums is a different story. Do you have the motivation to at least place them into albums? You can always go back at a later time and organize them chronologically, or scrap them or whatever.
Another option, get them all onto Snapfish or Shutterfly or whatever and have them make you a photobook.
The college notes, I have no idea. I saw no reason to keep any of mine, but then again, I don't have anything that pertains to a major or would be of any importance whatsoever.
Other people could very well be interested in the journals, especially as time goes on. I would keep them somewhere, but out of the way.

I got rid of college notes and handouts. I kept the papers I wrote--I was a History major so have a LOT of those. I just filed them in hanging files and put them in a file box stored in the basement with other old papers that we need to keep but don't need constant access to.

I have no idea on the keepsakes--I only have one small, pretty box that I keep personal items in. I tossed the rest of it, including some scrapbooks from school.

I would get rid of college notes. I would put papers and journals in a file box and store. For photos and cards, I currently put in a shoebox but that is because I haven't gotten around to sorting and putting them in an album. I would eventually like to do that.

Another thought if you have a scanner...find the papers that mean the most to you and scan them into the computer. You could then store them on a usb drive or cd to take up less space, and if you wanted to read a hard copy later, you could print them out. We have done this with some of ours.
