how am I making out so far...

with my stash:

13 Motherease fitteds (small)
5 Happy Hempys fitteds (small)
3 Sweet Peas Hemp fitteds (small)
12 Bummis Infant Prefolds
6 Rumparooz G2 AOI's (OS)
4 PUL covers (small)
2 Wool covers (aristocrats and my own) (small)

Would this possibly be enough to get me through the first few months...or am I short on anything. Was thinking that I need another cover or two (perhaps fleece), and maybe more prefolds or inserts/doublers.

I plan to stuff the happy hemps with the prefolds and use prefolds when out of fitteds. My nighttime system is going to be the hemp fitteds with wool covers (I hope). The AOI's are supposed to fit from 6lbs...and are for outings at grandmas etc. I have a feeling she is going to buy us more of those (or similar).

Any recomendations? I am totally open to constructive criticism. But I could just buy and buy if I don't have a "yeah that looks good". I'm only 4 months along!

My hope is to never use disposables. I made enough garbage with dd...

I would get more for sure. Assume you use 12 diapers a day (minimum) the first few weeks, you would want at least 24, and then that's doing laundry every other day. I think 36 is a good number for newborn/small sizes. Also, if you have a little baby, some of those smalls might be too big.

If you are okay with doing prefolds, I would get more of those. Especially if you will use them as stuffers, then you won't have as many for extra diapers.

For the younger ages, I prefer a pul cover over fleece because the wetness can wick through the fleece if they are laying down. I haven't used wool, so I don't know how that would work with a little one.

If you get more I recommend some sort of AI2, one size. The one size pockets starting fitting my DD comfortably around 2 months - although she could wear them before that. They are nice because they will last all the way through toddlerhood. Also, they dry a lot easier than the AIOs. If people are wanting to get you gifts, I recommend suggesting AI2s.

I'm pregnant with my first and planning to cloth diaper as well. Right now I have 12 small prefolds, 10 fitteds, 3 flats, a few one-size pockets, and an assortment of 8 or 9 covers. My plan right now is to hope this is enough for the first few months, and if it's not, I'll add some old t-shirts (see this website for how to use them) to the mix unless I find I strongly prefer one of the above types, in which case I'll order more.

I'm so excited to try out my stash!
