Sire tried to eat his puppy??? - Page 2

mom0810 - good point about show politics

I've removed the name of our breed just in case. I wouldn't want to overstep any boundaries. Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss further.... we might even see eachother at shows someday.

Yep, politics and the people who show dogs can be downright nasty. There are some people in some breeds who would stop at nothing to destroy another show person or breeder... it's pretty awful. So if you would like more info about what I show and breed, I'm happy to discuss it through PM's... but not publicly.

Yeah, the 1 year old sire thing would warn me off right away - plus, why was he around the pups? (And why was he that aggressive to them?) Sounds like way too much prey drive for a family pet, & clueless "breeders".

OFA numbers are specifically mentioned in our club's Code of Ethics; & in my breed, dogs can still be growing & changing into their 3rd & 4th year. I usually don't breed until they're 3 years old (some of my bitches haven't even cycled until 18 months). And I do have a large breed - Anatolian Shepherds (no sense not mentioning it - my username is also my kennel prefix ) I am the president of one of the two national breed clubs, have been for years - & health testing is usually a BIG thing in our breed. And since you get what you aim for, I'd rather aim high, & get a pup from a litter that was planned to produce show/breeding pups, rather than low, & get a pup from a litter that was basically done to produce "more pups".
