Yeah, the 1 year old sire thing would warn me off right away - plus, why was he around the pups? (And why was he that aggressive to them?) Sounds like way too much prey drive for a family pet, & clueless "breeders".
OFA numbers are specifically mentioned in our club's Code of Ethics; & in my breed, dogs can still be growing & changing into their 3rd & 4th year. I usually don't breed until they're 3 years old (some of my bitches haven't even cycled until 18 months). And I do have a large breed - Anatolian Shepherds (no sense not mentioning it - my username is also my kennel prefix

) I am the president of one of the two national breed clubs, have been for years - & health testing is usually a BIG thing in our breed. And since you get what you aim for, I'd rather aim high, & get a pup from a litter that was planned to produce show/breeding pups, rather than low, & get a pup from a litter that was basically done to produce "more pups".
