I know this question has been asked a million times and as a 3rd time mother I shouldn't be the one asking it
My baby is 9mos today and is still ebf. I haven't even attempted to give her solids. She is very active and alert and a touch on the small side (about 25th percentile on the WHO chart). I have been looking for an interest in solids from her and I am just not seeing it. With my first she acted like she wanted solids around 5 months. I held her off until 7mos when I felt I couldn't hold her off anymore. With my second I definitely waited past 7mos to offer her anything. I can't remember who old she was when I first offered but she refused time and time again and didn't start solids until 11mos. BUT, she was a special case since she has tons of food allergies and is highly allergic to those first foods I was attempting to give her (banana and avocado). Of course, I did not realize that at the time
My 9mo has been sitting unassisted for months. I am not sure if she has the other readiness signs. I keep trying to see if she uses a pincher grasp, but I haven't really seen it. But, I just don't see any interest in solids from her. This past week was the first time she has even taken a swipe at our food.
This is silly, I know it is ok to hold off, but I just need some reassurance. For those of you that delayed solids well beyond 6mos, did you wait until it seemed like your baby wanted to eat? Was there an undeniable urge from them?
Thanks
Beth
