Dairy free kids?

We just found out our 10 month old son is allergic to Dairy. Which for some reason he just developed the allergy as is formula has always been milk based.About 2 weeks ago he started refuding his formula so I started giving him Raw milk(thats what we drink)...he developed a rash from this so itried the formula agian and he refused it, so I bought him store boughten pasturized milk and the rash he developed flamed up. He has been ongoing like this for about 4 days until I could FINALLY get him to the drs. They did an allergy test and it came out positive for dairy. My son is a very picky eater...he only likes very little solids right now and while i do give him a large variety he just dont seem to like them he really likes his bottle. What I was wondering was...the Dr told me since I have already taken him off from formula...I should just switch him to soy milk. I have read lots about how too much soy is bad, is my 10 month old, old enough to switch up the milks as rice one time, almond another, coconut another and then back to soy? Or becuase of the allergy should I just stick to one?
Does anyone else have any dairy free children?
As of right now I have a gluten free child (which I am still learning about) and a Dairy free child(which I am learning of). Mine didn't show symptoms until older, so I'm not sure what type of milk you should feed. I would personally stay away from soy, because kids who have issues with milk often have issues with soy. My dairy allergic kid is 4 now and drinks rice milk once or twice a day and water the rest of the time. I would assume a 10 month old who isn't eating much solids needs some type of formula. Hopefully someone else will have some better ideas.

This is a pretty good website. I think at that age, I'd just offer whole foods, fruits, veggies, meats, etc and avoid anything packaged. You'll be shocked to see what all milk is in. You can find lots of vegan cakes that don't have milk or butter that work pretty well, that's what I use for birthdays. You can find coconut and rice ice creams. They don't taste the same, but they're ok.

I'd also avoid alot of the dairy subs they have out. The cheese is not good (at least I haven't found one that's any good). And some of them still do contain milk products.

Good luck! It's overwhelming at first, but it does get much easier.

My dd didn't show signs until she was almost 2.5 years old. At 4.5 she is now even more intolerant to dairy.

We substitute with rice or coconut milk and yogurt (she really prefers coconut) and when baking we can substitute oil for butter in a lot of things.

You can get rice, soy , or coconut ice cream. DD doesn't care what kind it is so long as she gets sprinkles on it

The hardest part for us has been going to family gatherings because family doesn't seem to understand that we NEED to know if there is any dairy in the food. Some of them get offended when we ask for specifics.
