How do you do the ACV? Just drink it straight?
I made strawberry vinaigrette dressing for my lunch which has ACV in it...but that's only about teaspoon given how much of it I put on my spinach.

When I've drank ACV in the past I've diluted it in water, like 2T to 4oz of water or so. It's actually not that ba tasting, a little refreshing even!

Is anyone doing tea infusions? I was just thinking about making some sun tea, maybe sweetened with a bit of stevia leaf, then chilling it. It is so freaking hot here right now!

clovergirl - I was thinking the same thing. I might try the vanilla yerba mate with some mint in it, or I have some really yummy honeybush tea that might work. The primal blueprint cookbook has a "recipe" (I mean, if you really want to call it that) for sage water that sounded pretty good, too...

I do best shooting the acv and then chasing with some sparkling water.

Is anyone eating other fruits and veggies other than whats listed in the pounds and inches?

I wish there was a creamer or milk we could use on this diet...I really miss my coffee (can't drink it black)

What the one tablespoon of milk you are allowed for coffee or tea isn't enough? But seriously, I hear you. I love coffee but it has to have a fair amount of milk for my tastes... I had a yummy cafe au lait this morning as my send off (2nd loading day).

Have you tried using the creme vanilla stevia drops? I'm not a coffee drinker so I really have no idea if this would taste good.

My knees are achy today. Last night my hips, knees, and ankles were really achy. Even sitting was uncomfortable. I went to bed early to just avoid it. I also drank 2 cups of Yogi detox tea last night and whoa nelly! That was an experience! I got a headache, my stomach was churning hardcore, and I just felt weird. DH tried to talk to me in bed and I just rolled over. I had to sleep it off. He did compliment me though on taking the diet seriously. That was nice.

I'm waiting to weigh myself again this morning. DS woke me up before 6 today. Ugh. As if I need another hour awake before I can eat? Thanks, kid. I'm hoping he will start showing some chicken pox within the next few days. He was exposed almost 2 weeks ago so our window of illness will be opening very soon! If he does get them, it will be a test for my diet. I'm totally a stress-eater. When I feel stressed, I eat to cope. My kids being sick stresses me out big time, which is part of the reason I pump them full of vitamins. It's for everyone's benefit.

Okay, I'm totally rambling to take up time. I'm going to go cook breakfast in hopes the rest of the family wakes up soon!

you can think about an epsom salt soak to help clear toxins. Vitamin C will lessen detox symptoms as well.

I did an epsom (plus baking soda & ginger) bath two nights ago. It felt great. I was sweating for an hour afterward, which was strange considering I was just sitting on the couch drinking ice water. I'll have to try some vit C too. Thanks for the tip!

Wow! Down 4.2 lbs this morning!

Had a great day yesterday and planned all meals for the week from the HCG cookbook so I should be set for the week. Even cooked potatoes gratin and fresh peach crisp for the kids and didn't touch any of it.

Thanks. I'll try that.

I love that cookbook...but you guys already knew that.

My report for VLCD day #6

3 lbs shed yesterday!

My total loss for 6 days is now 9 lbs.

I'm now down 22 pounds since my birthday on June 5th.

I totally feel your pain. I probably put about a 1/4 c of heavy cream in my coffee, no sugar, but I love me some cream. I'm making do with the tbsp of milk and some hazlenut flavored stevia. Also, I found some chai flavored yerba mate (just the bags, not a mix or anything) that is delicious and I like even more than coffee, I think. Coffee with cream will probably be my first Phase 3 addition and I cannot wait!!!

As for veggies, sadly I'm sticking to P&I. I know some people do broccoli and other green veggies, but if I give myself an inch, I take a mile, so it's safer for me to stick to the plan.

Me too! I'm like a major league baseball player who refuses to do ANYTHING that might jinx a winning streak...although I do wash my underwear...

I don't drink coffee anymore, so that has been an easy part of this for me. I gave up sweeteners in my tea a coupla months ago so now just plain ole tea tastes good.

Although...I might puree strawberries and make unsweetened strawberry tea tomorrow...yum!

Yeah, was thinking that I've lost more than half my youngest child. She's 40#
post #54 of 1914
Mary, you are rockin' this diet! Way to go!

I ended up only losing .4 lbs from yesterday's (second) weigh in. Today I had to (with the help of my sister) mow my grandma's lawn. Her lot is huge and her house is on top of a hill. It really is "uphill both ways." I'm surprised I got through it without passing out. I know I'm going to pay for it on the scale too. I've read on countless forums to avoid heavy exercise during P2 or it'll cause a gain. Oh well.

Maybe it'll work the opposite and the scale will show another loss. Lets hope!

OK, just had to share... I a sitting here eating salt&vinegar kale chips and they are amazing and totally legal! Bit sized pieces of washed kale, tossed with red vinegar, and then sprinkled with salt. Lay out on a non-stick baking sheet and cook at 325 or so for about 10 minutes. Don't heavy hand the vinegar if you want them to be very crispy.
A local friend also doing the protocol posted a recipe for kettle corn style kale chips las night that sound really good too. Basically it's just the slightly damp washed kale, then salt and powdered stevia to taste. I will be trying that soon too!
See, that was a question I had. Are "snacks" like the kale chips okay, as long as they're within the 500 calories? I've really only be eating, like, 200-300 because I do one piece of fruit, the two melba and my two meals (and then maybe a cup of tea or coffee). It would be a lot easier if I could have some extra veggies or something in between. And is kale okay? I had wondered about that since chard is on the list, but kale is not...
I just did the kettle corn version. To. Die. For.

I really wanted to do it too, after talking about it with you, but I didn't have any stevia. The salt&vinegar came to me on the way home!

greenmom4, I had the kale chips as the veggie part of my dinner (hard boiled eggs for protein, saving the fruit for a late night snack). I think that kale is OK, afterall, chard is listed as is salad greens and spinach. Kale and chard are pretty close in their nutritional make-up. I'm not a professional though, that's just my opinion.
Okay, do you have a recipe for the kettle corn kale? That sounds too good to pass up!
Ooooh I'm going to have to make those kale chips!

My diet may be thrown off today. DH wants me to take DS to the doctor for his eye that swelled up overnight. I think we should just wait and see for now. I posted in H&H if you want the whole story.
