There are just soooo many diff brands, types, etc. I don't even know where to start!! Please help CDing pros. This is basically what kept us from doing it from the start. I don't know anyone who CD and have never seen it done in person. I want something simple and easy to use..and affordable. My DD is 14 mo and weighs 26lbs. I would really like a one-size fits all so we can keep them for the next baby. I've read through lots of threads, the article in the last mag, and visited a couple websites and I still feel like I have no idea. HELP!

I understand completely! I was in the same boat as you when my DD was born. I looked all OVER the internet and could not decide what I wanted to use and which brands, etc. But I finally decided that FuzziBunz looked to be the best, so I went with them and am SO glad I did!! I bought 12 for about $200 and it's all I've needed. I do wash everyday anyhow, so one load of diapers a night isn't really a big deal. They don't leak, are super soft, are extremely easy to use, and absolutely adorable IMO! Plus, their OS dipes come with two inserts, one for newborn babies, and one for older babies/toddlers so you don't have to worry about purchasing them seperately. They'll fit your baby from 7lbs up to 35lbs, and will last through multiple children so they're definitely a money saver. You can go here to see their website (unless you've seen it already) www.fuzzibunz.com, and I buy from here: www.fuzzibunzstore.com because they have a rewards program and free shipping. Experience the addiciton, lol!

I use prefolds and goodmama's "the one" and regular fitteds in both organic bamboo valour and organic cotton valour.
http://shop.thegoodmama.com/
I am not a pro, and have just been figuring it out myself, and so far I have found that I really just like to use prefolds most of the time, especially if I am around the house and diaper changes are easy to do often. I don't feel bad about using them as often because they can handle the wear and tear, and clean nicely and I can sun out the stains easily (as I have discovered today). I also like them because they aren't as bulky so they fit under his onsies and sleepers easily. You do have to change more often with prefolds but I guess you should be doing it often anyway.
The goodmama's that I have I love. the prints are gorgeous and they are super soft and I don't have to cover them when we are just around the house or if he isn't wearing pants over top. I love just putting him in them in the summer heat; no shirt just a gorgeous goodmama.
I like to save goodmama's for night time especially so that he lasts longer in the night. prefolds definitely do not get used in the night.
the all in one "The One" by goodmama is fine, I like that they don't need a cover, and they are very absorbent.. but I have decided that I really like the fit of the pocket diapers better for an all-in-one. the goodmama Ones, tend to get a little saggy on the outside and can leak around the seam because of the stitching.. but I still love them so don't hate on them too quickly.
the pocket diapers I have are http://www.katydidcloth.com/ but I have heard great things about sweetpea or bumgenius.
I think you can just try a few and see what you like. the same one might not work for everyone.
try going to http://www.diaperswappers.com// where you can just buy some used or cheap/new and try out different types and brands.

I think the first decision you should make is style and fiber. That will narrow it down a lot. Do you want something as easy to put on as a sposie? (AIO) Do you want something that's quick on, but you can tell when its been peed in? (fitted) Do you want cheap? (pf/flat) Do you want customizable absorbancy with easy on? (pocket). Then you also need to determine whether you want stay-dry (synthetic) inners against baby's skin. Its more like a sposie in that they dont feel wet, but some people believes PL takes longer if they dont feel the wet.
Then you decide on closures. Aplix vs snaps. They each have their pros and cons, their supporters and detractors. Aplix fits a wider range, but it wears out and can tangle in the wash. Snaps last longer, but fit a narrower range. Some parents find one easier than the other - many find Aplix easier to put on, but in our house we find snaps easier.
All of that to say once you've narrowed down the field, the choices diminish greatly. For myself, we went fitteds, organic fibers, snaps and wool covers. Then it was just a matter of finding the dipe that worked for our heavy wetter. Most of my dipes i got off DS, so i could try all sorts of brands.

We really like the pocket style, we have a few AIO and don't care for them at all. The pockets really aren't that much more work than the all in one and it's nice being able to double stuff for nighttime use. We use a mixture of Fuzzibunz and Bum Genius one size. I got some off of ebay and I got quite a few BG off of their site when they had seconds for sale. And the diapers are totally fine too, not sure what the "flaw" was but it must be purely cosmetic. DH even loves the cloth diapers and he was so against it at first.

Since you have a 14 month old, I would get a couple Fuzzi Bunz, a couple BG OS 3.0 or 4.0 (haven't tried the new ones yet). They are the easiest and most common. Everyone has an opinion on snaps vs. velcro - they both have a place IMO. Once you try these two, you can figure out what needs tweeking. Every diaper fits every baby different but I have been happy with both of these on both of my kids. Also, try these two for nighttime...if your child needs something more heavy duty for nights at least this will give you a starting point. I like fitteds and a cover for nights, but I also use the BG Flip with the organic insert and that doesn't leak either.
A little FYI, don't necessarily expect a OS diaper to last for multiple kids. The BG 4.0 might be better, but so far the 3.0's have really not lasted for multiple kids...the velcro and elastic wear out. However, the Fuzzi Bunz have not worn out at all - that's why I'm such a big fan, I haven't had to replace any of them and they are the oldest diapers we have.

Okay, so I think I'm really leaning towards Fuzzi Bunz pocket one size. So how many diapers do I need? Inserts? Do I have to get any accessories..diaper pail, wet bag, special detergent?? I don't really mind doing laundry every day or every other day. Thanks soooo much for all the input!

So far I really like pockets. They are so easy
Check out www.greenerbaby.com
They are OS pockets. Similar to fuzzi bunz. Have great colors. In July they are running a special Buy 2 bundles of 3diapes ($25ea bundle) & get a free diap. So, thats 7 OS pocket diapes for $50. Cant beat the price.
I just got mine yesterday & will use for the 1st time tomorrow. I will give a review after I use them.

Good idea to use diaper swappers.
I didnt & just bought a bunch of different covers/pockets/wool/AI2s & there was only 1 thing I didnt like (Thirsties Duo cover). The thing is now I have a whole bunch of diff covers & things. I think there is a store that has a great try it out program. Maybe Jillians Drawers???
My review of the Greener Baby pockets: I have now used for about a week & love them. They are VERY much like fuzzi bunz, but they are OS, which for me is great with 2 in diapes. Also, much cheaper
