Is there a low fetal heart rate thread?

If there isn't a recent thread dealing with low fetal heart tones in the first trimester....

I am 6wks 5 days with my second child. At 5w6d the heart rate was 75 and the PA was very grim with us. At 6w the heart rate was 91 and the other PA basically said this could be a "bad pregnancy". I go in for yet another ultrasound on Thursday when I will be a full 7 weeks. I am having trouble finding comprehensible (to me) information on my child's chances of survival. I have had no changes in symptoms and no cramping or spotting.

I have read things that say don't worry, things are fine. I have read things that say such a low heart rate at the first U/S basically means an imminent miscarriage.

Any thoughts or experiences would be much appreciated.

When the heart starts beating, it beats slow.

Then, it speeds up to REALLY fast (at 9w, Maes hb was 179!) and slows down over time (she averages 140 now)

quite frankly, even seeing a heartbeat before 6w is amazing and to me would be a good sign.

I have only seen articles dealing with poor outcomes when the rate is in the 30's or so and slowing. The slowing seems key...and your babes is speeding up. I'd not be inclined to worry.

My SIL had an early us at 6 wks, and the heartbeat was very low like that. I was suprised not knowing anything, but they told her that it starts out very slow and speeds up every week. Fwiw, you can't even get a heartbeat on us until 5.5 wks, so it seems very early to for them to be grim about it

From what I've read, at 6 weeks a normal heartrate is 90-113. So, you are on the low end of normal, but still in the healthy range.
With one of my miscarriages I had seen an embryo with heartrate of 91, but that was at 7w3d which makes a HUGE world of difference.

Personally, I would try to ignore the doom & gloom predictions, hard as that can be. 6 weeks is very early and your embryo's hb is normal right now. And like MP said, seeing a hb at all at 6 weeks is an amazing sign!

ETA: There was no heartbeat this morning, I had a miscarriage sometime in the past week.
