~Looking for Northern IL moms to connect with!~

We moved to Antioch last summer, and I don't know many people up here. It's making me want to move back down to where we moved from

It would be wonderful to connect w/ some local moms up here, to make me feel not as lonely.

Are there any moms within reasonable distance that would like to meet up now and again?

No one up here cloth diapers that I know of, or is like me in any way. Sometimes I feel like I have 3 heads. lol

Awww man, I would be up there in a minute if I could. Maybe one day, we can have a meetup when I can drive (before I get too large - and while I still have energy) if you want. I'm all for meeting new mamas. I also cloth diapered my last child, and breastfed past the year old mark. I get looked at like I have three heads all the time - and I LIVE in Chicago. LOL!

I grew up in Antioch. I live a couple of towns over now. I cloth diapered my last.. and will this one as well. We unschool.. I have 4 babes ages 15, 11, 8, and 2 soon to be 3.

My husband works in Hoffman Estates - and we're only in one car at the moment. Until the twins arrive - we're working on saving up for a minivan and still having the car. So taking a train with a toddler and then getting back in time to get my son can be a bit hectic. So, on days when he doesn't work - or works from home I can drive.

Oh cool! My other 3 are 10 (almost 11), 9 and 6. Is your 11 and 8 yr olds boys or girls?

My first 3 are boys and my youngest is a girl. I'm due in Nov. with a surprise.

I live in the Round Lake area, really just a sneeze away from you. We often go to Centennial Park with our homeschool park group for the kids to run around.

I was just in Round Lake this morning!! The Once Upon A Child is going out of business- the one on Rollins and 83. All clothes are $1 each and toys and baby acessories are 40% off!! If you need anything, hop on over there. It's cash only though- no debit or credit. I managed to snag a Moby Wrap wanna be for $9!

I heard that! I figure once I have the cash to spend there, all the good stuff will be picked over. That's the way it usually works for me.

I just got $121.50 in clothes for $24!! If you need baby items they still have a ton- boppy's, baby carriers, shopping cart covers. Not much in older boy clothes for my 6 yr old but tons of girl stuff in all sizes!

We are a very well established group with lots of cloth diapering moms. We have a monthly meeting as well as various play groups throughout the month based on our members needs and interests. Our meeting is currently in lake forest but it will be moving to a new location in the next couple of months.

I should add that i live in round lake my my husband and two children, 1 and 3 years old.

Thank you, I will check it out. It would be nice to get out once in awhile! My 3 olders will begin school 8/24 and they will be in school all day, 8-3:15. I will need to get out!

I just moved here last July, so I don't know where Lake Forest is. Where will it be moving to? Where are the play groups at usually? A hall or someones home?

I didn't see your reply earlier. Lake forest is pretty far for me so really far for you. It's east on route 60, about ten minutes east of the Hawthorne mall if you know where that is. We are probably moving the meetings at mundelein which is more central. We also currently have a weekly park day at the grayslake spray park.

I posted an intro on the Yahoo group a little while ago too

Oh, my kids would LOVE the spray park!! And Mundelein isn't that bad. My gma lives in Grayslake and we go to Dr. Elvove for pediatrics in Libertyville. I drive if I have to!

When is your next spray park meet up? What is the cost? I'd love to be able to go. We haven't done much this summer

The grayslake spray park is free (my unschool group had a day there last summer).

I also use Dr. Elvove as our family doc.

I think I used to be part of the LCAP group but it was when I had older kids only, no little ones... and it was mostly little ones. Is it still that way? (sorry to butt in with my own question )

I also use dr. E. The ages are pretty diverse but certainly skewed to the under 5 crowd. Meetings usually have more babies and park days tend to have bigger kids, but still generally preschool aged. Several of us plan to homeschool as well. We have a park day at the grayslake spray park on wednesday mornings during the summer. The winter is a little trickier as everything costs money but we still like to get out and meet up at various places around lake county or for home based play groups.
