severe round ligament pain - can anyone help?

Baby M is fine; I'm working on it. I spent this weekend in the hospital b/c I woke up at 3am on Friday with really intense abdominal pain. We went to the ER and then Labor and Delivery. After a LOT of testing, bloodwork, and three sonos... everything came back completely normal. That's a good thing, but it stumped the docs for awhile. I was released Sunday afternoon.

They think that I just had a severe bout of round ligament pain. It took them awhile to figure out what they can give me, but they found an anti-inflammatory (indocin) that would work and not hurt the baby. But I couldn't take it long term, and I took my last dose on Monday at 10am. And now I'm all FUBAR'd again.

Someone mentioned that I should see if it’s a fibroid. But between the four sonos I had (my level II on Tuesday and then a bunch of them at the hospital) shouldn’t they have seen something already? But since indocin worked on me, and it typically works on people that have them, the docs made me another appt on Friday to check for them again.

If you have/had severe round ligament pains, what did you do that helped?? I've tried everything from yoga stretches to green tea to warm baths, and NOTHING relieves the pain for more than an hour or so. I haven't slept much since Thursday.

Did I miss the memo? Isn't the second tri supposed to be easier??

Help?

I had severe round ligament pain with my ds. He was very low and the pain made it difficult to put on pants and walk very early on. I used a maternity belt which helped A LOT.

I have my husband do what they call 'sifting' when I'm balled up in pain from RLP.

Here's a link on it, it really, really, really helps:

It's often used in labor, I told hubby that will be his job this time around.

I should add... that I think my second tri RLP is caused by baby's position. With the sifting I'm able to get babe into a better position and that helps release the RLP.

I had that in the second tri this time. It was so bad at one point that I was blacking out and lying on the floor . I noticed that it was always worse the day after I would go on long walks or bike rides. My midwife suggested using something for extra support (bella band) while doing those things. And also, warm compression for while I was having pain. Other than that, I would just ride out the pain. But, I haven't had anything like that in the third tri so far, so hopefully it will get better for you too!

A chiropractor who is skilled with the Webster Technique should be able to give you relief. Mine adjusts me and shows me what to do at home to help with the pain. My pain has always been average, nothing like what I am hearing here.
