Pain in the Cervix?

So, I was just taking a walk, and after about 10 minutes my cervix started to hurt! It was a lot of pressure...it felt like it was going to explode. Then, I ran into a friend and stopped for a few minutes. When I started walking again, the pain was gone. But then it started up again, only for a couple of minutes again. It really killed, but I have the feeling it was not a big deal (?).

What could it be? I looked in some pregnancy books but found nothing. Also, if anybody could describe to me what the "mucus plug" looks like, that would be great...just curious, in case it ever comes out. I am 30 weeks.

Thanks!

Hmmm...

Nothing else? No further pains?

I guess it could be your baby engaging. Is this your first? Does he feel lower? Are you starting to pee more?

The mucus plug looks like snot. That's the best way to describe it, I think.

Just wanted to add, if it keeps happening, you should call your cp (it certainly wouldn't hurt anyway.) It could be contractions and that's just how you're feeling them.

More than likely just baby pushing on your cervix. Although it could be from your cervix dilating a bit. I had a ton of this a couple weeks ago so I figured I'd get my OB to check. Still high and totally closed so it was just baby being a pain in the cervix LOL.

I've been feeling something similar I guess. For me it feels more like the baby is head butting my cervix, or punching it or something . But for me, when the baby's movement stops, the pain/discomfort stops too. I don't know if this is the same for you. Yours could be bh contractions or something.

The mucus plug is snotty, and sometimes can have a bit of blood too (bloody show).

hmm...I had a friend describe a pain like lightening crotch, and I thought that was a good description. Is it like a sharpish pain like something scratching or sharp and intense? For me it was just the baby pushing down.

I had this at the end with DS1...around 38 weeks. It started way earlier this time, probably around 34 weeks. I don't think this one is lower than DS was at this point, so I wonder if it is cervical changes like effacement that I am feeling. Who knows!
