Is this too fast to be simply growing out of it?

Dd just turned one last week. She has been allergic/sensitive/intolerant to a whole bunch of foods since birth. One of the foods that we figured out (other than the most common ones) earlier on was rice. Whenever I tried giving her rice, she would have hiccups almost immediately. She also slept poorly after having it. If I had it in my diet, then she would end up with green poop. The last time I tried feeding her rice was about 5 months ago. The other one that caused issues for her was blueberries. I think it was about 2 or 3 months ago that I tried giving it to her. This is probably an intolerance. She screamed herself to sleep. Lately, we've tried both foods and she seems to be tolerating them well.

My dh keeps on saying that kids start to outgrow allergies and intolerances at this stage, but do things change so quickly? What has been your experience? The only other difference is a weird Chinese medicine energy paper (it's a piece of paper with lots of numbers on it that we keep close to her body at all times). I am hoping that this is the reason for the quick improvement. What do you think?

I think it's possible... what do you think was the cause of her allergies? I've heard of lots of babes under 1 who stopped reacting to foods when their gut flora improved.

I have no clue what the issue is. Someone suggested that it could be mold in the home where we were living, and we have seen great improvements since we moved 4 months ago.

That would also explain it. But I like the Chinese energy paper too.

Whatever it is... go with your intuition. You'll be able to tell if she is reacting to a food or not.

thanks for the reassurance! It's so needed at times when we are dealing with our little ones' food issues.

Can you tell us more about the Chinese energy paper? I'm open to trying anything...

Did you see the article in yesterday's NYTimes about the guy who had yeast...and improved immensely when he moved out of his moldy place?

Anecdata - My aunt didn't outgrow her food allergies until age 7. But, strangely, she doesn't remember ever having them.

I don't know if there is a lot that I can say about the TCM energy paper, simply because I don't really understand it myself.

The website is duosuccess.com. It's a doctor that I met almost 20 years ago when I was young. He just immigrated to Canada at that point. I think he said that China recruits those who are talented and train them. For him, it was Chinese medicine and maybe psychic abilities (very movie like, but then movies are based on real things sometimes).

When I was in grade 9, he told me that I would have stomach problems later in life because of overeating and drinking. I thought how weird, and never paid attention to it. Years later, it came back to me and made perfect sense. I was bulimic for a few years right after highschool, and I don't think it's self-fulfilling prophecy because I didn't even know enough to see bulimia as over-eating and drinking. And he also told me that I would be an educator working with children, which came true as well after a very winding road, so again, don't think it's because of him that I made my choice.

Anyway, I also know that he has helped two family "friends". One of my mom's friend has a cyst (I think) in her head. When it was first diagnosed, the doctors told her that she could die anytime depending on what happened to the cyst, but she is still around and healthy 15 years later. She is taking his medicine.

The other one was a little boy who had leukemia and was looking for a bone marrow transplant. They never found a matching donor, but he went into remission.

I guess you can call all these things fluke, but I just like to believe that there are things about this world that modern science cannot yet explain. So back to the papers...I understand it as "chi" being put into the paper and when you carry it around with you, then you're absorbing the chi.

The website has a Chinese and English version. My Chinese is not advance enough to understand the complex explanation. And the English version was probably translated by google translator, so it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Anyway, I believe in this man's ability so I am giving it a try. The first week that dd started to carry the paper around, she was very very fussy. I started at the same time as her, and I had a day of scary horrible temper. I have a bit of a temper, but it was never that bad. I can only conclude that it's the energy paper doing something to us.

I told our naturopath about it and she wasn't surprised by this method of healing. She said she has seen something similar to it when she was in Taiwan teaching. I think that's all I can say about it.

This one?

I think about mold all the time. STBXH has refused to believe that several leaks need repair. He stopped talking to me when I had one fixed b/c I spent too much money. I think this is another major factor in my son's multiple allergies/intolerances. I think mold can definitely aggravate an already compromised constitution.
