thrift stores rock!
i just spent the day going to a few different ones and i have a huge bag of delicious newborn loot a few things i got at a consignment store, but 3.00 or sp a piece for really nice quality stuff is pretty good.. i even found a brand-new cotton sleepsac of some name brand which i cannot recall and a bunch of organic cotton/bamboo stuff. i love big city thrift shops!
cant wait to get home, wash it all and put it away.

Oh, too bad. We're going up to Qualicum Wednesday to spend the day at this amazing beach dh's family has known about forever. Close, but not close enough I guess. Enjoy the Island - the weather was pretty bad today, but is supposed to be nice for the rest of the week.

Has anyone ever had American Apparel baby lap tees? They have so many awesome non-pastel colors that I am very tempted to get a few to try out. I love using longies all the time- and onsies are so worthless even with an AIO. But the cute long sleeve lap tees- those are awesome- and so hard to find..... Any one with a personal review?

qualicum is pretty close~! we are getting the 10:30 ferry so wouldnt be in the area till noonish im thinking. what time would you be going beaching? i would love to meet up!

Yep, we had several AA lap tees for DS3 to go with his longies/shorties/whatevers. I liked them a lot! There used to be an easy way to do co-ops on them but no longer. Boo! Oh, there is some size variation in their products, but they're nice and soft and stretchy, too.

sweet. I have about 9# babies- so I was going to do the 3-6 month and not worry about the shrinkage. Now I have to decide what colors....

Fern - I don't think tomorrow is going to work...BUT we were planning to come down from Courtenay (staying with my parents for a few days) to Coombs and Spider Lake Thursday, and our time is more flexible then. Got my OXO lights- no humming and they're bright enough for me to read at night if I sit them in the crook of my arm while I read laying on my side.

Alright, last night I used our new credit card (which I feel terrible about using but it's the only way I'll be able to pay off the midwife!).

And I bought myself a book for my birthday-The Backyard Homestead.

I am still trying to decide on the Nova Hammock (the stand is out of my price range, but the ceiling hanging kit would work) and an electric swing. Anyone weigh in on this one?

kittywitty- we have the baby papesan swing and it is awesome. The only thing I would change would be no batteries and make it electric. Dh and I always lament over not thinking that one though better. But that poor swing has been wonderful for our first 3 babies-definitely a musthave in our house- especially when there are other little ones needing attention. It is impossible to be in a bad mood rocking back and forth with the mirror/mobile and music......

I am still putting together my list.... But I did get a pair of sneakers for each of my kids and myself. That is some progress I think. sneakers were on my list. Still making out my AA shopping cart- that is my next thing I think. And nursing tanks.... And my birth kit. good grief. probably better start with the birth kit I guess.

Nursing tanks is off my list finally - got a smoking deal on Glamourmom nursing tanks. Perfect for wearing in this heat! I'm going to put off looking for sleepers, etc until the older 2 kids are in school and I only have to take one kid along with me to the thrift stores. Borrowing a carseat from a friend (ours expired last year, and I can't see buying a brand new one for this one baby, especially considering our kids are out of that seat in a few months).

I was given a dutalier glider with matching ottoman yesterday!

It is white wood and matches the white wood bassinet I have set up in the living room.

Ive never had a glider before-man, its a nice feeling! And really, it was so needed here-our leather couch offers so little back support and now I will actually have a place to sit and nurse

I ordered a gorgeous slipcover set for the glider/ottoman made of soft minky fabric-an expense I was not anticipating but I figured this is something I will love and use so much..these cushions are really quite old looking and the cover is going to take this glider to a whole new level, plus Ill be able to take it off and wash it as needed!
Sorry to ramble on and on but im just so excited to have a glider!

That is awesome! May I ask where you got the slipcovers? We have a Dutailier and it's getting a bit grimy-that microsuede never lasts long in my house.

THis is the binder I bought. The sizing seems weird and I had a hard time getting straight answers about it, but I ordered the small:

We had a swing forever but sold it in a yard sale last year. Of course. They are really useful with my colicky babies, but that hammock looks so darn cute and useful. I have a swing with plug in ac adaptor in my wish list (we went through a TON of batteries with our old one!) but can't justify the cost of a swing *and* a hammock, kwim?

I'm debating swing/hammock, which swing, etc., too. I have loved the idea of hammocks and the Nova one looks awesome. But my babies have ALL loved the FP cradle swings. We got a the papasan one with DS3 and then sold it in a garage sale a year and a half ago. I sold it knowing that *IF* we got pg again that there were ones I liked better out there. But the gorgeous Dwell Studio one that Target sells is getting really awful reviews. The Zen Collection looks nice, and I like the idea of being able to pick up baby to take with me (dare I confess to having picked up a whole swing to move it before? ), but the chair base on the swing just looks bizarre to me.

So while I love the idea of a hammock, I'm not sure if it will help the baby as much as a swing would. Sigh. I dunno. If I had tons of money I would buy it all. But I would definitely want the stand with the hammock, which does make it quite pricey. I just don't know if baby will like one over the other, ya know?
