I work outside the home 2 days per week and have a bit of a lipase issue, so I have to scald my milk when I get home in the evenings. Tonight, I finally did what I have been afraid of doing for months...put it in the pan and forgot about the milk! I think it was at an aggressive simmer/low boil for 5-8 minutes. The milk got darker in color (like kind of tan, the color of "tint tea" - light tea with lots of milk), and I think it smells slightly funny, maybe a tiny bit "eggy".
Anyway, is it definitely ruined?
