DD is not loving the CD's!

DD is 17 months old. DH and I have been talking about CD for 18 months now and have finally decided to do it. We talked to friends, asked advice, read the internet and could not agree on what to do! DH took the bull by the horns and ordered Chinese prefolds with a handful of different covers - we have some nondescript "free with purchase" ones, a Kissas and a Thirsties.

The problem we're having is that DD is not digging this at all. She tells me "no, no, no!" when I try and diaper her with the cloth. She's fine when I put in a sposie.

In all honesty, I have no idea if we're doing it right - there seems to be a lot of diaper for the covers - she ends up looking like a sumo wrestler. I'm not sure if she's having a hard time because they are so bulky, because she can now feel when she's wet, or if she's just worried they make her butt look big

Has anyone started CD'ing this late in the game with any success?

Thanks

Have you thought about trying an all in one cd? They come in pretty colors - maybe your daughter wouldn't mind them as bad since they fasten just like disposable if you get the velcro kind.

LOL! We also just started CD about 2 weeks ago, and my son who is 21 mos is doing the same thing!! We started off with just night cloth diapering, and then when I ordered some covers with inserts, have been doing more CD during the day. He never seemed to mind the CD at night when we started, but one day we had some friends and their children over for a bbq, i tried to put a cloth dipe on him and he had a fit!! He kept kicking his feet saying "No! Don't like!" and pointing to the disposable diapers asking for them instead. I swear it's b/c he was embarrassed to wear the cloth in front of his buddies. He seems to be ok with me putting them on most of the time, although sometimes he'll still kick his feet and protest a little, but once it's on he doesn't say anything else.

yeah I learned that you need to do it from the beginning. My dd didn't like it either when I made her a guinea pig to try putting prefolds on when I was pg w/ my son. lol

My son did this as well. We'd taken a break for a bit because of his build--super skinny thighs/waist + wetting like a 2yr old makes it hard to fit. Finally found a solution (motherease airflows rock!) but the month long break was too much. I eventually gave up and went to sposies to tame the fights. I think it's because it feels wet and 'bulkier' than with a sposie. Ds hates to be wet, so I think that really fed into it. The few pockets I had (that didn't fit well due to said build) he didn't mind as much. However, I was running out of clothes by day 2/3 of CDing so it wasn't saving me money by that point.
