2-year old, lowish fever for 3 days, acting normal- call doc?

God, I never know what to do with these fevers! My kids can't just get a fever and get over it, they have to drag on and on making me worry, lol. My son is 2 and has had a low fever (101 tops?) for the past three days. Other than the fever he is acting normal and happy. I am inclined to just let it run its course, but then of course you read about how you should always call the doc if the fever lasts more than 2 days, etc.

He had an episode of something similar to roseola when he was 8 months old, but I honestly think it was rubella. So maybe this is roseola? Though I thought they have higher fevers?

Thoughts?

I would wait it out. It's probably just a virus.

If he's happy, I'd wait it out. Look for a chickenpox rash after the fever, too. That can start with a few days of low-grade fever.

My 2 yr old just got over a low grade fever for 2 days. He did vomit once and have looser stool's a couple of times, so I thought tummy bug.

I did take him for a quick follow up on the 3rd day just to check his ears & throat. The only reason is b/c last month he had a low fever that went away then got really high, then went away - but he was still really sick looking. Took him in and he had a throat/ear infection - I had no clue! We still treated it at home, but it helped me know what to treat.

With no other symptoms- bladder, pain, runny nose, cough, diarrhea etc. I might be inclined to wait a little longer.

Dr Sears site has great info on fevers and when to worry if you're interested
