Grad student roll call!

After seven years as a journalist, I'm starting a two year professional program in public policy this fall. I've already been to some orientation classes, and I really feel like I'm making a good decision going back to grad school. Super excited about the next chapter in life.
I know it will be a little bit of a juggling act, going to grad school, working 10 hours per week and being a single mama to a two and a half year old DS, but I have a good support network. And I think that with my professional experience and pretty decent time management skills, I'll be able to pull it off.
So who else will be in grad school this fall? Which program? How long do you have left? Any worries about pulling it off? Any tips?

I'm in grad school!!! I'm also a single mama, and I'm really worried about pulling this semester off! The good thing is that this is my last semester of law school, and the bad thing is that after I finish that - I have to take and pass the NY bar exam All as a single mom! Oh man I'm terrified of that!

But, just like everything else so far, it will all fall into place right? And things will work out?

I got accepted into a Masters in Science in Nursing Education program. I am short a statistics class and then over 10 years when I was going to nursing school, I tested out of two classes, and of course now I need the credits. I have the option of testing out again, but doing that at this point in my life is not going to happen! It looks like I will take those 3 classes this fall and start my program in Jan.

I am freaking out about how I will manage 3 busy children, a part time job, extensive volunteer commitments with no one to hand them over to, and now grad school. My youngest is only 1 and he isn't sleeping well so I don't always have reliable study times. I have been studying the last few months for the IBCLC exam which has proven to be interesting. I figure that I will take these classes, and hopefully everything goes somewhat smoothly, worst possible case I can defer my entrance into the program until next summer when DS is a little older.

Me I am almost done with my second semester in about two weeks. I have one semester/ maybe two before I finish..I will need to finish a 25,000 word document...ouch!. I am doing well but a bit overwhelmed. I am also taking a class at the community college for prereqs for nursing school. I am sitting for the CNA test in about 3 weeks. I am hopefully going to be starting my own business asap too. I am moving to TX in about a month too. CRAZY!

Oh, and I'm doing clinicals. But I luv that part so it makes it all worth it.

You can do it mama!!!

I have been accepted to a three year M. Div. program. I have taken a one year deferment offer, so technically I am not starting until fall of 2011. However, I have been given the opportunity to take one free grad class at another school this fall, so I am taking them up on the offer and getting my feet wet.

It's been about a decade since I've been in school, and I am both nervous and excited.

I'm in! I start my second master's this fall and then I begin my PhD next fall!! Weeeeee!

I have a TON (and I mean a TON) of credits that I earned for fun after I finished my first master's. I just finished my second bachelor's in environmental studies and I finally decided to jump in and do the master's. My school is letting me transfer a few graduate credits into the master's program, so all that's left is a quarter of intense coursework and then the rest of the time will be spent on my thesis.

I'll likely be doing my PhD at the same school, and they are giving me a deal on my tuition. I'm also considering a different school, but it would require relocating.

I'm REALLY excited about my master's program- I'm studying human ecology with an emphasis on cross-cultural environmental perspectives and can't wait to get started! My first master's was less-than-spectacular, so this is like a chance to start over.

How is it? I am going for an accelerated bsn in 2012 and then I hope to apply for a Dnp program in women's health/peds maybe. Are you working during the program?

me! I am finishing up my third semester (summer) in the Masters of Secondary Education program right now and will start my last semester in two weeks. I will be doing my student teaching internship and taking a class that is designed to help us student teachers build our portfolios and do all the major written assignments that the College of Ed requires. if all goes well, I am set to graduate in December. Woo hoo! It has been a wild ride, this program has been intensive.

Count me in. My dh had a job offer that he had to move for, and I got into grad school here. We have a 4 1/2 yo. I will be teaching high school science pt and school full time for occupational therapy. I am looking forward to it but at the same time really scared to see if I am able to juggle all of these different balls without dropping anything. I wish there was a money tree in our backyard so I could just focus on OTD program and our daughter.
May the year go smoothly for all of you

It's going well so far. Yes, I am working but I work Baylor(every weekend) 2 12 hour shifts. With shift diffs and Baylor premium pay, I make the same as working full time. Plus, I get benefits like a full time employee. So this is working well for me and my family. Now that the dc are back in school, I will have more time during the week to study and do class work.

Congrats to you!

Dawn
