others who have had O delayed by soy or clomid?

Hi, i took soy this month, and though i normally O around midcycle, i still havent O'd and have no cm at cd20. (took soy days 3-7, 75-100mg)

Does anyone have any experience with this? Anecdotes? Information? Ive googled my heart out and theres not much to be found. Only that some others, like me, have also had the same experience.

Im trying to figure out something which apparently has estrogenic effects on some women, especially those who dont O or who O late, will have the opposite effect on those who do. Or maybe theres something else to consider. Ive read that low thryroid can be exacerbated by this, by i dont htink i have low thyroid.

If soy/clomid, blocks estrogen receptors and fools the body into believing estrogen is low, thereby making the body increase its estrogen output, why then, would this same thing have the opposite effect in some women?

Glad to hear any other stories/info, and advice about where i could get more information on this (other ttc threads?)

Thanks

I can only give you my experience with two cycles of Clomid. The first cycle I took it, my O was delayed to CD 25. The next cycle I took it, I O'd on CD 15, which was very exciting. So I don't think you can assume the soy will definitely have the same effect on you each cycle. This cycle maybe you're late to O, but maybe next time you'll be on time or early.

Also, Clomid tends to dry up cervical fluid, but I don't know if the soy isoflavones have that same effect. Good luck!

clomid typically delays o by about 2 days on average. both soy and clomid can interfere with thyroid function. the thing with soy is we are taking it without the same workup we would have had if we were under a doctor's care with clomid, so there is a chance you have an undiagnosed thyroid issue to begin with, and if you add soy, you may delay/prevent o'ing that cycle. this is especially true for women who are taking large dosages, like 200 mg or more, which is likely too much for most. most likely, you will o, just hang in there and watch your fertility signs. if you havent had bloodwork done, you might consider checking with your doctor re: thyroid before you try soy again. i would, anyway. it might give you answers you need.

I don't have an answer but I took soy this cycle (160mg) and it's now CD18 with no signs that I'll O any time soon. I don't know if this is soy delaying O or just not helping, since I often have long cycles anyway. (I do not have thyroid issues, I've had it tested.) This is my second cycle with it, last cycle didn't go much better so I don't think I'm going to try it again.
