Going-to-school irony

Hello everyone.

I had to put my boys in school this past fall. I'd still prefer to be homeschooling, but the kids and I really like their school.

I'm sure you all won't be surprised at the number of people who were "relieved" when they heard my kids were going to school. They were especially glad that my socially awkward older ds was going to have a peer group.

Well, last year ds got along with his classmates, but didn't really make friends. He takes a long time to "warm up" to people. This coming year, there are going to be less than a dozen kids in his grade, and he is the only boy! To add to matters, he's the youngest kid in the class. I'm sure he'll be the king of 9th grade.

Socialization, right.

Well, all the girls will be competing for him, right?

It is ironic, but I just wanted to say that I am happy for you and the boys. Not everyone who would prefer to be homeschooling likeds their school! So, I am happy that you guys do.

Amy
